How is it possible that Webroot scores very well here and in the av-comparatives they score realy bad I have changed too Bitdefender 2013 and it is a great product at this moment and they score realy great in every test.

Eset and mse still suck

 

They need to strengthen their 0-day protection.

Newcomer CheckPoint (ZoneAlarm) has excellent result.

 

Hello, just some thoughts
Oh well, I have nothing against to live with a product who sucks then. Real life experience have show me that my Eset so far, have not let me down and have protected me well. If I should follow the different testing organisations results, then I could do nothing but constantly change AV solutions. And a AV is just a small part of a total security solution, towards malware infections anyway. So long that Eset have not completely shattered my hard drive/mbr and so on I will stick to them.

Kaspersky has really been going from strength to strength recently, in pretty much every test.

I have been using Eset for about 10 years. I have no problem letting them know their 0-day protection could be better.

 

Maybe you just don't know that a rootkit is in your system.

 

To be fair to ZA, although the score looks pretty similar to KAV, they have also internally developed web blacklisting, heuristic engine and HIPS that can play a role (both way). E.g. KAV protection against 0day malware (May) ---> 93%; ZA protection against 0day malware (May) --> 98%

 

BullGuard continues to improve; top for protection this time.

 

Cleaning isnt as important as protection. the only real way to clean a system is to do a reinstall or restore a clean image. I have no issues with the protection of Eset. I have had success using eset rescue disc to clean systems. malware can be hard to get rid of when its active. you dont see car mechanics repairing cars when someone is driving them.

You have also got to remember that protection is no good if the program crashes and or uses lots of resources. some products that always score well have other issues.

F-secure always scores well and is also a reliable product.
Kaspersky and bitdefender keep adding pointless stuff to their products which causes issues. I wish both companies would redo their products without the non security crap and focus on the security and resources usage.

 

Not sure if Fortinet is new to the test, but it had a solid showing for a freebie.

Anyone using zonealarm firewall/AV? How light is it system feel and I/O, Memory?

 

one more things results are on default setting mode if user set high or tweaked results ofcourse differ

 

Bitdefender is really great , but too "heavy" for my taste.

 

Did you try the 2013 internet security version?? It is realy light i hated Bitdefender 2012 because it was realy havy on my system but the 2013 version is realy light.

Bad repair results from Panda, hopefully 2.0 will do better

 

A good opportunity for giving ZA Free + AV a go at home if it wasn't by the intensive I/O and RAM usage.

Even AV-Test.org acknowledges this :

Computer resources usage by ZA Free + AV is quite higher than the average AV industry. If they make it lighter by optimizing the code, I might seriously try it at home instead of MSE. It's a free FW + AV suite anyway.

By the way, NOD32/ESET results are kind of disappointing.

I have it installed on a Windows 7 64 bit machine with 2.74 GB usable memory. It seems as light as Avast 7 or Panda 2.0 did, browsing included. Not sure about the I/O or Memory. The once a day update kind of bothers me, but I can update it myself, so no big deal.

 

Did you disable Windows firewall or leave it on?

about normal for eset in the av-test results. however i trust eset as i have been a long time user and never had a issue. i do agree they need to work on cleanup. very surprised at the slowdown results for bitdefender and even bullgaurd very nice but i dont think i believe them for bitfdefender 2012.. and even norton internet security lighter than eset.. imo not so. the rest about normal and what i would expect the results to be for av test. im going to give bullgaurd another shot and test it again today

 

ZA disabled it on installation. Do I find the I/O in Task Manager? I see Memory there, but I'm not sure what memory you are referring to. The ZA processes combined?
