I agree about AppGuard protecting the MBR.I have Deep Freeze for just my added layer and software testing and not for the MBR protection, but that's just a added benefit.I hope now, its just as good as Shadow Defender.

j, I suppose this should go without asking, but have you maxed out the RAM capacity on your box?
And another thought... couldn't you just not start the protection module with Windows on movie night?

Deep Freeze is light as a feather, lighter then any thing that I ever tried or use and only 2 service running and its very stable and fast.

Why not? SBIE is awesome. You're missing a solid protection buddy. ;)

I think if you're using system wide virtualization you don't really need Sandboxie, I know there are some users here that run these programs together but that's just my opinion. Also I think system wide virtualization is less complicated to use. I mean Sandboxie is not really complicated if you got used to it but you have to open you locations with the correct sandbox in order to get to your files etc...this might be complicated at least for average users. As another example Geswall just flags your untrused files and you simply go to the download location without having to know in which sandbox it is in etc...

I use process explorer and it runs packed with 2 executables running (FrzState2k.exe and DFServ.exe). Working set is about 18MB for me. If I remember correctly SD runs even lighter on memory but I'm pleased with deepfreeze, no slowdowns at all. Only thing I noticed is it's tray icon shows up kinda late when you boot your system but that's nothing to be concerned about.

Only thing I need to fix somehow is Opera Mail combined with Deepfreeze because E-Mails are downloaded over and over again cause there are deleted on reboot of course. I guess these are those kind of things where you have to use Data Igloo but I am not sure :/

I agree with you completely. Anyways, I don't use system wide virtualization software. So I'm good with sbie. ;)

Really? Did Panda Cloud Team release a small update to the version to fix the slowdowns? Or is it just your system that suddenly feels lighter with Panda Cloud?

My system, DF icon shows up quick and in this order. The sound - wireless - battery stat - Deep Freeze - then Appguard which is always the last to load for me.

for me it's the other way round. Appguard is the first thing to come up in the system tray and deepfreeze appears at last but I guess that depends on the drives that deepfreeze has to put into a frozen state. I wonder if there is any difference if I let Deepfreeze freeze my 3TB HDD + some external 1TB drive as well. Currently it freezes a Crucial M4 SSD and a 500GB HDD.

You should suggest that feature in the Appguard thread to come up in future releases. There already is parental controls implemented but never bothered with it so not sure if you can do something there to prevent unauthorized users from changing the appguard configuration.
