I think trjam is testing Roboscan and seems pleased the last report I saw!:thumb:

So what would you say is the main reason for the relatively poor results of late?

    1. Having a user-base in the wrong part of the globe?

    2. Detection techniques too radically innovative for normal av testing?

    3. Database issues from time to time?

Is there an "all of the above" choice? I think that summarizes it well - we certainly have had our fair share of improvements to make and a learning curve but we're working with the testers and improving our solutions constantly.

A new point of explanation again - so after all, we couldn't recommend WSA to european users atm.

No, it can certainly be recommended there - it still protects the system even if it doesn't find some threat. It's just that we could lag behind some other vendor who has a heavy presence in a certain region if we've never seen a file. Similarly, we'll be ahead of other vendors in other geographic regions where we have heavier userbases (i.e. the US and Japan). It doesn't take long to classify files automatically.

Thank you Rompin Raider. I'll keep an eye out. The problem with ZoneAlarm is it only updates once a day, and thus may not offer the full protection Kaspersky shows in this test. I would go on, but this thread is apparently about WSA. lol

I continue to see an antivirus with unique strengths that is still too weak to use on its own and would benefit from the larger malware databases that other developers generate by offering a free version.

Tsat42, are you referring to ZoneAlarm AV with FW Free? Thanks.

It's weird no one has mentioned Qihoo.
Personally it was a surprise that a chinese vendor was basically at the top.

Congrats to Bitdefender and Kaspersky, i've always thought they are one of the most complete suites out there. :D

Probably not when you consider that amongst its 5 engines are those from BitDefender and Avira.

    As i thought.
and i think it'd be Better even not to talk about Qihoo when
it doesn't respect the non-Chinese users , so we don't have
    any business with Qihoo here.

My only gripe with bitdefender is the total lack of support on their forums. The product seems sound but looking over their forums does not install confidence. That alone makes stay where i am :(
