For those experiencing higher performance issues than with V1 you should (a) perform a full scan and optionally (b) exclude some file types from the on-access scanner, such as .jpg, .part, etc. Also verify that you don't have some other potentially conflicting security software installed. In over 90% of the cases these types of slowdowns are caused by conflicting security software or some background processes/applications performing constant file operations.

Regarding the youtube video, the only comment I have is that testing should be left to people who know how to differentiate a malicious exe from a non-malicious exe. Simply because a few engines detect something at VT doesn't mean it is malicious. Simply because you "think" the URL is malicious because you got it from some blacklisting URL site doesn't mean it is malicious. Simply because you "think" that something should be detected doesn't mean it should. And finally there are certain types of programs which can be PUPs which are detected or not based on other criteria, not necessarily whether they are malicious or not. I don't mind youtube tests, but I do mind testers who have no idea what they are doing.

The tester didn't even realise that most of the 'detections' from Malwarebytes were files that were already detected and deleted by Panda. Better to watch it without sound! Also without some form of comparison, the only conclusion one can draw is that AVs aren't infallible.

As for Panda 2.0, the only criticism I could make so far is that the scan speed is very slow - but that's not the main feature that matters when it comes to performance. Most people don't have hundreds of malware files sitting on their hard drive. So far it feels faster on the system generally than 1.5, which for me had started giving me some slowdown.

(I just did my own amateur testing with Panda 2.0 on 512 ostensibly malicious files - Panda found most of them with the scan. Upon execution of the remainder, Panda caught and removed nearly all. Of those that were left, only 3 could actually run but were blocked by UAC. Edit: one of these turned out to be non-malicious. By comparison, Kingsoft and MBAM did the same set much quicker, and had comparable results.)

Yeah scan speed is really slow for me. It was scanning 1 file at a time! I thought it was 50% faster :argh:

Thanks for chiming in pbust and RJK3. The only youtube vids I normally watch on AV's is by Matt and mainly because he is entertaining and is to these youtube vids like John Madden is to announcing football games.
I tried 1.5 on my XP Machine, but noticed a drag after running it for a couple of days. Hopefully 2.0 will not cause that same drag.

Are you scanning a normal system/directory or a collection of malware? The scan speed improvement is over normal conditions (ie scanning a normal computer). If you are scanning a directory with hundreds or thousands of malware samples the scan will be slow.

EDIT: scan speed is also improved further after a first initial scan to build up the cache of good files.

Okay, here is my take on this Panda bashing you tube test. First a disclaimer: Panda is not my favourite freeware AV,

The guy testing on you tube proves he is really a security expert, NOT :argh:

What Panda left over was (according to MBAM)
    - ibsvc is a signed program, sure it is the InstallBrain installer, but he installed it himself
    - some rest over in AppData and Userfiles of PCSecurity, nothing to worry about (no executable)

All other traces were found in the recycle bin (and removed by Panda)

Please those YouTube test are not worth mentioning in Wilders :thumbd:

I'm seeing CPU usage around 70%. Dell Pentium 4 2 GHz, Windows XP, 1GB ram.
Only Panda Cloud 2 is running. No other security software.

luffy, you and I have the exact same system, except I also have Sandboxie along with PC. I've only been testing PC for about a half hour and all is well so far, with CPU only between 11-21% with two windows open. One window open CPU is only 0-8%. I only run an Optimized Scan after I install PC. I also restart my PC a few times in-between opening the browser and then opening Program Files etc, to let PC get use to my system. Try those things and then check CPU again.

    1) Windows firewall gets disabled when the firewall is turned on.
    2) Full-blown.
    3) You recieved a Pro license from Cnet in a previous giveaway but missed the recent promo? There may be another giveaway in the near future but not at the moment as they did give away 5,000 licenses. You can complete an offer through Trialpay or keep an eye out for Panda giveaways.

thanks for the info...no, I received a key from the recent promo but some people were asking if the CNET promo was going live again or if another was in the future as they missed the CNET deal.

I am also seeing extremely high I/O, even compared to older versions of Panda Cloud. 254m reads and 2m writes in less then 24hrs on a machine that's been idle almost the whole time.....

I have the same usage as well, whereas Webroot WSA Cloud AV shows just under 30k reads and writes in 24hrs.

It's probably been an hour or two since my last reboot. Not even counting the other two processes, just PSANhost is at 10,751,838,858 Read bytes, which is about 5x higher than the next highest process (MBAM). MBAM is also fairly disk hungry.

On the same machine, Kingsoft AV, another cloud av, is only at 372,280,229. Small fraction of Pandas i/o use.

I like this Panda program, but it is by far the most i/o hungry program I have even used, with the possible exception of VMWare.

I have similar results as Milk Manered the cow does. At present, my CPU remains at 0-5% and memory is a steady 1.48 GB. I have KAV and IMF Pro running alongside Panda Cloud in realtime.

OS: Windows 7 HP SP1 (Dell Inspiron laptop, x64)
Processor: Intel Core i3-2350M CPU 2.30GHz
    RAM: 4 GB

I used to marvel at how Symantec turned things around with their Norton security product in 2009. Remember how bad of a resource hog pre-2009 versions were? It would just invade and take over your system, like a bad virus.

They turned it around though. Now I know how they did it. All of their developers left and went to Panda.:D

Ouch. The issue isn't that bad, but I wish it would be addressed. For the most part it is a fine program.

And hear I was lamenting that 1.52 had not auto updated to 2.0. I guess I can wait a bit as there seem to be a few bugs to be worked out.

I have this problem when I open Panda Pro GUI, I get this error: 'Access Violation' PSUNConsole.dll. I want to use Panda, but this is annoying and the pop-ups are endless. o_O
