I use Macrium Reflect but only for my System Partition. My Data is stored on a separate Drive which I regularly backup to other External Drives.
Right now I'm using EaseUs Todo after Acronis failed me twice with backups on 2 disks. I could see the files in the acronis archives (validated) and restore files one by one but full restore failed every time, even with the boot disk.
I'm kind of a perfectionist so if i'm going to roll back my PC due to an infection of some sort, i prefer just to wipe it out. (And yes, i got time to do it Hahahaha)
Using Acronis. I had been using O&O DiskImage but when I tried to buy the last upgrade my bank rejected it for being an overseas payment processor. For whatever reason I was able to buy Acronis. No major gripes with either. Acronis is much faster with incremental/differential. O&O is probably a little bit more reliable.
O&O DiskImage is kind of less bloated than Acronis but in the end it depends on the user, i used to like Acronis more because it had some awesome features such as the software test mode. (Forgot the feature name)
Acronis Try & Decide. A feature that has not worked well for me once. Might as well get Toolwiz TimeFreeze for free instead. That one works for me so far.
That's interesting. I use Active@ Disk Image because at 72 I find it simple, clear, straightforward with a simple GUI. As a side note, I'm contemplating getting IFW if I can learn it by reading the manual first.
Voted Macrium Reflect (Pro V5). Why: because I became tired of functionality defects within Acronis TIH 2010 and the upgrade paths looked problematic (in many ways). Looked around, tried a few products and Macrium fits my requirements for imaging as well as file backup full and incrementals. And it works.
Us young 70-year-old whipper-snappers will undoubtedly progress as we gain your added years of experience. I tried several alternatives after abandoning Acronis a few months ago due to issues with their half-baked ATIH 2012 release. But Active@ wasn't one that I've actually tried myself and so have no basis for objective comparison. (Got a bit anxious to settle on something decent to resume a backup protection strategy.) I'm quite sure, however, that Macrium isn't the only producer of a good user interface and docs.
I can't just choose one. Out of the listed programs I use: Clonezilla DriveImage XML Redo (if this is a reference to Redo Backup & Recovery)
I use Microsoft SyncToy. I simply connect my external HDD and with SyncToy I sync the Document/Music/Picture/Video/Download folder. Using it for many years now.
