I removed Malware Defender and Nod32 AV and added Norton AV 2012

    So my setup includes:
    Sandboxie
    Norton AV 2012
    EMET
    OpenDNS

    Less is more.

You trying Norton AV trial or using the paid? If the trial then you could try Norton IS instead for a 90 days free here

Nice setup. Do you prefer Norton or are you just using it because you won it for free somewhere?

I'm using a free setup, and loving it!

    My realtime protection:

    Comodo Internet Security (hardened setup)
    EMET 3
    PeerBlock

Honestly, i wouldn't trade it for any expensive security setup.
Comodo's AV may not be the best, but D+ fills the gap perfectly. :)

Right now on my 64-bit Compaq running Windows 7 I have ESET NOD32 and Superantispyware with the windows firewall. On my Lenovo running Vista I have Immunet Pro 3.0 and Superantispyware. And on my Lenovo Windows 7 machine I have Dr. Web Security Space version 7 along with Trojanhunter 5.5. The Lenovo with the Vista os is using the Windows firewall. The Lenovo with Windows 7 is using the Dr. Web firewall.

I like ESET a lot, and think I will switch to it on all computers after the other av subscriptions expire.

Hi! Yes, Iron Man I saw your post in Other AV's section. But instead of that option I chose this offer from Symantec: http://us.norton.com/ps/loem/EN/Facebook/index.html
It's a free six month licence for new users. I also prefer AV over IS.

Since 2011 version Norton products are great and next to Nod best AV I've been using. 2012 version looks great so far.

Maybe I will bring it back some day. It really is a great software and by using it, I learned a lot about my system and apps.
My computing experience became too boring for my liking, when I had everything under control. I decided that a little less security (control) would be a nice change.

Yes, if you put it out of learning mode without setting some global rules and placing apps in correct groups, it can really become popup heaven. :)
But correctly configured it allows you to gain almost total control over your system.

Oh thx for the link Tom. Do you mind if I put this link in a new thread for better exposure to members and visitors of this forum? :)

Thx Tom. I've already created a new thread. By the way, how do you like Norton AV? Is it light? I've read the sonar thing deletes files without user permission. Is it a thing of the past or still happens? What is the memory/ram and cpu usage at times of normal idle and scanning? What is the size of update? How many times does it update? How many processes are running at any given time? Does it come with any toolbar for browsers?

Yes Norton is really light, no impact to system performance noticed.
Sonar has three options for handling risks it finds: always remove, remove high-certainty only or ask me. You can set it as you like it.
Norton uses two processes, both named ccsvchst.exe. ATM they use 19.404 KB and 15.352 KB. CPU time usage is minimal. While scanning I could do other tasks with no impact noticed.
First update was large (I believe around 70 MB) the following small. If you have pulse updates enabled it updates every few minutes (few hundred updates a day). If you have them disabled it checks for updates each hour.
It installs addons for Firefox and IE, but no toolbar installed. When you run FF or IE for the first time, browser asks you to install/enable the addon.

Overall I have only good experience with 2011+ versions of Norton.
