    Hello!

I'm new here but I've search the forums a lot that has enlightened me.
Now I have two questions that I hope you could help me with.

1.) I have a netbook, Asus eeebook with Windows 7 Starter, CPU Intel Atom N450 (1.66 GHz) and RAM 2 GB. Now there's the following on it: ESET Smart Security 4.2, Malwarebytes Pro, Threathfire, HitmanPro (free), CCleaner and Eraser. KeePass and TrueCrypt. Firefox with Addblock Plus, NonScript and WOT. Sometimes I run it with Norton DNS.

I have a lot going on when I use my little computer like: Skype, Evernote, Dropbox, Spideroak so it's not fast. Is my security solution enough or can you recommend something better? Lighter and safer? Preferable free but I'm also interesting in knowing what you think is good to put your money on, regarding to security.

I surf around a lot checking things out so I need security. Although I did a scan today and didn't find anything wrong with my computer with the security protecting me now.

2.) I have always wondered how you deal with parents using a computer. Witch is the best way to protect parents from security threats online? They have ESET Smart Security but that's all. They surf around like maniacs and click on everything! Installing programs that need attention and calls for decisions being made is not an option for them as they get scared to hell and turn of the computer when they get those messages. Please...any suggestions?

    Thank you in advance!

    Hello!

If what you want is protection from malware
Sandboxie is the answer. You can configure it to automatically delete all browsing seasons junk when they close the browser. :thumb:

add other layer such as noscript / adblock plus and also Norton DNS/Open DNS
    with family filter on it.

I would set up a limited user account with admin password protection, install sandboxie and EMET (Enhanced Mitigation Experience Toolkit) Keep UAC on at least the recommended setting and set windows Firewall to block all inbound and you already have eset in place. That should suffice and make one rock solid setup.Correction - I see you have smart security so scratch windows firewall.

I recommend you try Sandboxie. Try the free version for a few months and after a while, if you really like the program, purchase a license. The license is lifetime and you can use it in all computers that you own. If you put your money on Sandboxie, you wont regret it because after using the program for a few months, you ll realize that getting infected belongs in the past.

    1. Limited User Account (protects you from 95% of the problems)
    2. Your AV of choice (Eset, Webroot and Avast are the lightest)
    3. Chrome (it is running with Low Rights Sandbox, is safer and faster) with AddBlock+ only

Try Sandboxie and Microsoft Security Essentials. Light, simple, and effective.

If all your parents do is surf net, use office etc and not install programs and such:

You can install comodo, set sandbox level to blocked, suspress av alerts and auto quarantine, set firewall to safe mode, supress firewall alerts and autoblock, same for defense+ and password protect settings.

Get firefox or chrome with adblock and set dns to norton or similar.

Take a backup with a program of your choice (i.e. Macrium reflect)

I would ditch ThreatFire it's not light on resources, and not really needed with everything else you got running in realtime.
