I have a fresh backup image so I try Privazer, setup it can be set for been used as portable, and I choose this possibility.
It is more effective than CC but it could be dangerous, as every similar program.
It needs an hour for delete all the entryes, in memory, registry, hibersys, pagefiles, free space, browser, messenger .... It found a lot of things and so I trying deleting
Disappears some desktop link (OperaNext, Puran Defrag, MediaPlayer Classic HC) but recreate is not so hard, it seems everything works well :thumb:
But for sure is not a tool for basic user, only use if you have a fresh backup image IMHO
But impressive how many entries related to privacy are on my HD
Is not a CC alternative, is more a companion
It not recognize OperaNext (but Opera standard I think yes)

The portable option is a "use as portable" versus install, which means it does not extract files to the hard drive but lets you run it from the installer versus installing it. You must keep the installer file to use it thus again, unless you figure out a way to extract the files yourself.

It took an hour first run on my relatively new machine, but the next run was about 15 minutes. It looks at a lot more items than Ccleaner and it removed a lot of crap files from my new system...so look at what it finds before you clean it.

Comodo Programs Manager alerted "detected malware installing" while the program was cleaning which is a false positive as PrivaZer is doing things to your system that malware might also try to do if you were not aware.

PrivaZer offers features that other cleanup programs do not offer. There is an option to run the program as a portable application or install it. When you then start the program you are asked what you want to do, and which device you want to scan.* Besides the option to scan for every trace on the device, you can also perform scans for specific traces. This includes Internet traces, software use, the USB history or Registry traces.

When you look through the list you will notice several items that are not really covered by the majority of cleaning applications. This includes traces in the MFT, in free space, the USN Journal or the system memory. You have the option to look at the traces that it has found before you click on the clean button to remove them from the system.

One issue that you encounter is that there is no way to select only some of the traces of a location for cleanup, it is always everything or nothing. Once you are done going through the traces and selecting the locations that you want cleanup up you should click on cleanup options first. If you do not, Privazer will select the most appropriate option for you. If you choose for yourself, you can select between secure deletions of files, RAM cleanup, or free disk space cleanup operations. You can also use the program to delete files, folders or the Recycle Bin securely, and to schedule regular cleanups. Portable option. Size : 3.57MB. Win XP/Vista/7.

It ran fine on my 64bit Win7 system. I ran it after running Ccleaner and it still recovered about 4GB of space and reset the "empty" slots to zeros making it unrecoverable. All in all a really nice thorough cleaning utility plus some nice surprises...much more powerful than Ccleaner. Do use care and look at what it wants to remove.

    @ abu shofwan

"Appears" to be a nice find :thumb: so far anyway !

Funny thing, the PrivaZer-User-Guide.pdf = 5.78 MB is over twice as big as the actual Non installed App privazer.exe = 2.08 MB :D The PDF is very comprehensive though, as is the App :) So i would advise Anyone wanting to use this App, to digest the PDF first ;)

I stopped it running after 2 hours cleaning, but in the scan stage it "appeared" to find "some" items i "thought" had been deleted by other apps ! I'll need to take it for a more extended test drive, when i get a bit/lot :D more time.

Looks like it "could" be a Very worthwhile addition :thumb:

It sounds like it might have its uses, but not as a CCleaner alternative. Some people might want to use it instead of CCleaner, but for the vast majority it sounds a little too technical. Most people use CCleaner for its simplicity I think.

    Hi abu shofwan,

Nice tool. Thanks for starting this thread and posting the link. :)

I tested the s/w on a couple of machines, each with a couple of internal HDDs. It appears as if the length of time to complete is primarily dependent upon how many "traces in free space" were found. For example, cleaning one of my secondary internal HDDs (250GB) took infinitely longer than my main drive, which is 640GB.

    my pleasure,friends :D

I am testing by myself and it took ~50m on first run and ~12-15m on 2nd. I have 500GB with 2 partitions.

Tool for advanced user,IMO. It looks like similar with East Tec Eraser but more features /functionality and most important is FREE

is a System partition 20 GB but is a 5400 RPM HD on a netbook so I think a better CPU or 7200RPM drive it is faster on scan & delete. Second scan is in my case 25 minute. But even in this nice review it needs 2 hours for cleaning

I did a test. I first ran CCleaner, then PrivaZer. The cleaning took about 15 min.

When the cleaning ended, I checked some programs and found one problem. The desktop link to MS Mathematics 64-bit disappeared, and the content in Start > All the Programs was "empty". The program could only be run from Windows Explorer.

Funny, I had a similar experience once when I used CCleaner. It wiped my Help and Support, or such like. This was at least 5 years ago, so details are vague.

Yeah, when I first ran the program, I checked the list of "traces" in the "Startup" section. I immediately unchecked the box next to Startup because it looked like allowing it to clean those entries would have borked my quicklaunch shortcuts as well as my start menu.

It didn't find much on my system and of the stuff it did find I'm unable to find anything that's an actual privacy issue?

It found 43 traces on it's first scan (I excluded the registry as I just don't trust registry cleaners very much) and most of them were completely benign things that even I wouldn't consider a privacy danger (And I take paranoia to a new level).

This is of course on a system where CCleaner with CCEnhancer and custom entries in winapp2.ini runs every 15 minutes and on specific program shutdown (Sometimes I have to manually disable the task such as when installing drivers/software).

Furthermore, the mispellings and other issues in the GUI make me nervous. I'm not sure why? I guess I just don't want to trust the complete and total functional capacity of my OS to a company that doesn't double check if vital descriptions are spelled correctly.

All that being said I was surprised to know that there were ANY traces on my system benign or not and I will look into seeing if I may in someway prevent these traces or add them to an automated cleaning task of my own.

Edit: Allowed it to scan my registry where it found 21 traces all of which were file extensions.

FYI, it will delete firefox bookmark backups outright so if you are relying on them I suggest you be aware of that.

@ichito, v1.1.320 was just released, so perhaps you can give that a shot (although it just mentions an "Improved UI" in the release notes).

Another thing is you really don't have to install the program. Have you tried using it with the 'no installation' option?

Failing the above, you can always contact support with your issue:

When i tried it, as above, i used the Non Install version. Funny thing though, the initial .exe launches another .exe, which is the actual NIV. After running & closing, it then deleted itself :D Not sure why it does that ?

I ran it again & saved the NIV in a new folder, along with tld.txt & sqlite3.dll. It "seems" to work fine Without having to run the initial .exe first ;)

Re - Goversoft as alluded to by LockBox in the other thread.

I too noticed that & it made me wonder also ! A bit too obvious, or hiding in plain sight :D Their www was created Anon, but that's not so unusual ?

I ran r-wipe, ccleaner, sweepi, and Bleachbit first. Privazer picked up some stuff. Thanks for the tip.

I downloaded the latest version and unfortunately still no chance to run properly the installator and next to use the program. I tried to do this many time...more than 20...but I'm probably not so fast to be better/faster than program. If I try to run as without installation I have to do two things:
    - fix on run without installation
    - push button "next"
It's quite impossible. Even if I would be so smart and fast and I catch the button "next" before the windows "your language will be soon...blabla"...the program will not install/run and I'm also redirected to the "translation" page.
It looks that I must type my e-mail befor I install this app and by the same way I agree to contact from their side.
They try to force my adress from me and it's unacceptable for me.

The convenience of Ccleaner is just too much for me to get an alternative. ;)

Personally, I wouldn't consider PrivaZer to be an alternative to CCleaner; it's more of a supplement.

FWIW, a new version, 1.1.322, was released today with the release notes referring to "Improved registry cleanup".
