Error 008 Activate License

    Any idea what is the error number is tied to? While trying to install and activate a new userid and passwd from 5 user pack. The 3rd PC installed, failed to activate with this error number. No cross ref or other text on the error message. Repeated several times before clicking to submit ticket. After clicking to review info before submitting error report, the activate license suddenly succeeded. Sync problems or am I supposed to wait between each activationo_O

    Event log has one entry for invalid userid passwd, no error number. Of the several attempts this is the only error msg in the log which was also the only error that was in a balloon popup. Thinking this was a separate error from the update module and not related to the activate prompt.

    NOD32 5 Home new userid issued. Old install was Biz ver NOD32 4, the biz license was active and cleared from the system when uninstalled 2 days ago.

    We're still investigating the cause of this issue. It helps to know that at least in your case, the situation cleared itself up after some time. To help us further, what ESET product was installed and which Windows operating system are you running on that computer? Did you restart the computer at any time between the activation attempt and the issue resolving itself?

    The OS is Win 7 PRO SP1 64 bit. ESET Retail Home NOD32 AV 5.291
    eav_nt64_enu.msi md5sum 3c70fbcc95c530472947cfa6aacca7cc
    Previous build installed was 4.721 Business Ver (license was just renewed and active upon uninstalling), removed previous install 2 days ago. Remote admin console was never entered for this PC.
    Did not attempt to reboot PC after the install, it was stuck on the activate with userid and passwd. When the generated report started to collect the information for submitting, the screen flashed and the submit information screen with the Finish button highlighted was not responsive. Soon at that screen cleared, the update module prompted me for the passwd to my userid. Entered it and it slowly started into the rotating icon and accepted the passwd. Time line between the 2nd PC activated under the same license, was 5 minutes. Time until it accepted the license 15-20 minutes. Need other info let me know.

    One possible reason for the 0008 error is that the username or password were entered incorrectly when prompted for that information during the install process.

    Thx. Wasn't the issue. Passwd was visible, userid was stored, no whitespaces or hidden characters.
    Authentication sync issue on ESET end or possible over reactive license protection measures is my guess. License was issued with in an hour prior to the install. Unless the generated system report tool is attempting to self repair problems, this error was likely on ESET's side.
