seriously SAS saved my friends bacon with a nasty malware tha mbam and avast missed

 

well miracles does happen sometimes you know....maybe it was just out of the blue.....avast! missed 3 tojans....I scanned with sas .....found nothing.....mbam cleaned everything...that was a year ago...and there are tons of experiences like this from my friends......btw, I'm using both sas and mbam pro now .....

 

It's a way to make a point for people to draw and analogy from - meaning, let the experts do their job - we are not taking up excess disk space and we do our job well. You made the claim that all SUPERAntiSpyware does is sit around - well, that's a good thing that you aren't infected, but when you need it we will be there to clean up your system!

 

Great choice! SUPERAntiSpyware+MBAM+AntiVirus is a great multi-layered approach to security.

 

well said....but I stand by my statement.....sas has not impressed me much....I criticize sas because I'm a user .......

 

well it does slow my pc to a crawl....and removing sas from the system makes pc run like horse......

Untill i become more familiar with SAS's so-called alternative, i will say that it certainly comes as no shock for me that SAS accurately pinpoints my locally hidden ADS on XP that i deliberately use to situate some kernel protection drivers, as well as the rootkit i use to mask them. Something another AS fails to display.

Nothing malware makers despise more then using their own tactics to prevent Them from invading your property.

 

Not too surprised by growing size of scanners. If you want to be protected from every. single. virus. ever..... that's a lot of signatures in the database.

Cloud-based scanners are looking better and better. Why download the data for every single known bad file when I can just upload the relatively small number of files that are actually on my system?

+1.... I was mad when it tells me at the download it is "Portable" and is NOT "Portable" anymore! Why Say PORTABLE if it is NOT Portable Anymore is what I dont understand? I think SAS got greedy with their GOOGLE Partners and decided to try to force users to download a copy that includes GOOGLE SPAM so they can get more $MONEY$ from GOOGLE, makes me feel like SAS turned into deceivers! and now their more about $ just like others who have followed the same path.

And please SAS dont give me the crap storys like on your forum, like its portable because it includes update definitions, like seriously, portable means portable and does not Install anything to programs folder period!

 

In my opinion, SuperAntiSpyware, targets a rather outdated type of malware. It's therefore no wonder that Lavasoft and Spybot have receded into obscurity.

Sure, spyware still exists and can give a headache when trying to remove it. Try AdwCleaner (more info and download here -http://general-changelog-team.fr/fr/downloads/viewdownload/20-outils-de-xplode/2-adwcleaner-) if you have a pesky type of spyware (like IncrediBar or SweetIM).

Nowadays the most dangerous malware are FakeAV's and other stuff that tries to get into your bankaccount. Modern AVs and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware target thát kind of trash.

SAS is a kind of dinosaur: still surviving but living in an alien world.

Regarding the size mentioned in previous posts, it is just the way the software is setup, if you decide to use:
- passive heuristics yes/no/only
- active heuristics yes/no/only
- classic malware definitions databases yes/no/on the pc/in the cloud /hybrid
- build de sw in assembler or in c++ or higher programming language
etc.
this all has a huge impact on the software size.

To be quite honest, I've used SAS as long as I can remember, pretty sure even before MBAM. However, lately, I've noticed that it misses quite a bit of malware...still use it, but..disappointed.

We absolutely catch the FakeAVs, FakeAlerts, Rogues, etc - look at our definition history to see the current threats we remove and update DAILY.

SAS has always been a solid performer. Always was and always is. Most free solutions have some sort of advertising for a product. You can always opt out. The only thing I'm not crazy about is their interface. That can be a bit outdated but not the protection it provides.

Which frequently means that I've touched a raw nerve. SAS is targetting spyware. It still does and yes, it nowadays also removes FakeAVs but those are not the prime targets of SAS.

 

Incorrect again - we target all types of spyware, malware, rogues, rootkits, etc. etc. and always have.
