Use ZSoft Uninstaller, there's a portable version and it's remnant scan is quite powerful (you have to know what you are doing though)
    How so?

Because, revo allows to delete traces without rebooting the PC after uninstallation. Now if the files/registries that gives command to delete files on reboot gets deleted by Revo, uninstallation remains incomplete.

ZSoft, has an option to monitor installation and to run post-uninstallation anytime even after reboot.

Info about the upcoming UnThreat version with latest Vipre engine by UnThreat staff.

"We are working on implementing the latest engine version, however, there are problems with the web filter slowing down the internet on some PCs. We are waiting for a solution from Vipre. A HIPS protection is coming with the new release along with the latest engine. The Allowed items part is being rewritten to make it easier to work with. The GUI will have an update to better understand what is UnThreat doing. Stay tuned, the new update will be out in a few weeks."

I installed the free version on my WHS 2011 box, and getting utsvc.exe pretty much always using cpu, it'll drop down to 5% at the lowest. And this is on a quad core. Anyone else seen this?

I have no idea what that service was doing, but I decided to leave it be for awhile. Finally today it has settled and is no longer using any cpu. So whatever it was doing, it took forever (22hrs).

Is it decent to use UnThreat Antivirus Free Edition 2012 as the primary antivirus (along with Windows 7 built-in firewall)?
Does the free version provide real-time protection?

For any of you who currently have only positive results from the stability part of UT, with UnThreat how do you rank it's detections? Have you personally pitted it against malware/viruses in a controlled or uncontrolled setting with satisfactory returns? And how would you compare UnThreat to a Cloud-Based concept of protection.

Thanks and looking forward to your answers

They have been so quiet because UnThreat have been sold out to Polmont Ventures, Ltd./Bandoo Media Inc!

    Bandoo/Searchqu/iLivid = Win32 PUP Bandoo spyware/adware

Check out the about us page on UnThreat website. For those who does not know who's Bandoo, then here they are:

    hxxp://www.imesh.com/

jZip (another open source project sold out to Bandoo)
    hxxp://www.jzip.com

iLivid Free Download Manager (don't know nothing about this)

The version from Download.com/Cnet is 4.2.31.0:

    sshot-2.png

The direct download link from the website point to the 4.3.33.0 version:

    hxxp://download.unthreat.com/UTFree.exe

    10.9 MB

I don't care about the installer from Download.com, as long as Polmont Ventures, Ltd is distributing spyware like Bandoo and are involved in file-sharing scams like Shareaza I removed UnThreat AV from all my home pc's.

I had this on one of my machines, prior to switching it to Roboscan a couple weeks ago. I thought UnThreat had a lot of potential. It barely used any resources, and offered decent protection.

I am not familiar with this Polmont Ventures, Ltd, but anyone have any idea what they want an AV program for? Do you think they are going to try to bundle it with adware or something?
