I'm not sure if anyone is still following this thread because of how off topic it's fallen, but we've corrected the database issues now so we should be scoring significantly better in the next round of tests. I'm not sure exactly when AV-C/AV-Test do their actual testing but the next round may have already been finished so it's possible that the next set of results will fully show how strong WSA is. I'll let everyone know as soon as I know of these results.

    Thanks for the patience! :thumb:

to most people on here the strength of Webroot was never in doubt, all the products tested have quirks and Webroot is a new product so will have problems, but support is fantastic either on here or through Webroot itself, keep up the good work.

1- Real-world basic users don't even have a clue about tests labs so they dont care.

2- Security-awared users like us, are educated enough about security to avoid executing malwares on our real system.

3- None of the above categories will open 10+ zero-day malicious links in a row

So Test labs are not so important to me.

Btw, i installed WSA beta on my girlfriend laptop, to see if she may be infected during her daily surfing and actually it is not the case.

I'd like to know what technology Webroot uses to stop MITM attacks?

Because I just got a beauty going to download https everywhere from eff.org.

Also why does Webroot turn itself off from time to time? Turns off AV/Heauristic settings. Kind of odd if you ask me.

Also what is mctadmin.exe, gatherNetworkInfo.vbs doing & why cscript.exe & cmd.exe are running all the time but are hidden from task manger or any other utilities.

Also found - ype:0002E752 Name:Ivp.April virus using another scanner.

    Thanks.

If you were just infected with Ivp.April, I think you need to upgrade your hardware. That's an MS-DOS virus, circa 1990, which won't work on modern OSs. If you aren't using DOS, then you have just experienced a FP by another scanner ;)

WSA uses DNS triangulation to block MITM attacks, but that has nothing to do with download blocking.

mctadmin.exe is legitimate, as is gatherNetworkInfo.vbs, and cscript.exe/cmd.exe running are probably mctadmin.exe running gatherNetworkInfo.vbs.

No_script: I suggest you stop posting lest you make even more of an arse of yourself (although I suspect that ship has sailed).

I think it would be a kind of sadness if No script stop posting. I find it interesting to observe, that every effort, so far, to make wsa look like a bad program is failed.

True, lol. On the other hand the posts are so absurd that I cannot believe he is serious. My guess is that the OP is taking us for a ride waiting for the MOD to shut him up. Then he will be able to call for WSA censorship keeping us entertained for another while :D

And No_Script has had all the offers of help in the world from PrevxHelp and received suggestions for help from folks here and seems to ignore them while continuing to bang his gong...:cautious:

That's the fanboy inside all of you in this thread speaking.

Only No_Script has seen the light of day, you don't use security applications you simply disable all Windows services. It's like the first guy who called it and said the world was round, it must feel lonely. :argh: :D

The May test probably took place before the database issues were corrected so I'm hoping the next round of testing should see even better results.

I'm sure it will improve. No doubt whatsoever. They have one heck of a team there now at Webroot with some really impressive pedigrees.Just doing some research on the team,it kind of blew my mind the quality of all the people involved. With the cloud, there may be occasional hiccups as it is a continually evolving thing.Things will only get better as time goes on.I pray Webroot's subscriber base will continue to grow. The more, the better for all of us.I'm not a huge believer in alot of testing, but better scores make it easier on those of us trying to spread the word about what a great product WSA is as some pple are pigheaded and won't try a thing unless it's at or near the top of testing results or from the 3 av goliaths.I have some WSA installs planned for a few people next week.Sent them to amazon for the great deals they have there.Looking forward to the looks on their faces when they see that a security solution doesn't need to bog down your pc.

Would like to know how PrevxHelp maintains his composure. Must be a Zen thing. I would have had to say something less than diplomatic by now.

Have there been any recent test results on WSA false positives?

Haven't seen any FP results from normal test agencies recently. Only recent thing I've seen is the AVC Suite Performance Test for June 2012. WSAC was #1.
