Do you have proof or evidence that you can provide where something can "jump out" of my BZPRO Web browsing session, or if I install a program into the BZ, and infect the rest of my partition? I will like to see that please. Thank you.

By the way, you can lock partitions and folders etc in BZPRO. Were you aware of this?

Of course not, but many people want to carry on using the program, and they don't feel safe buying it directly from the SD site. That's the reason for the link, and it has been posted before.

So who is running that link? That's the question? NOBODY KNOWS! So do you really want to trust an "UNKNOWN SOURCE" to give you a program?

And back to your comment, "Bufferzone does not protect the whole partition from changes, it just sandboxes your browsers, instant messangers etc."

CM, I am sincerely asking...if you have proof or evidence can you please show me in a video where anything gets out of the BufferZone when browsing or installing programs INSIDE the BufferZone?

No, I never said that Bufferzone is unsafe. But Bufferzone's application control is similar to what Sandboxie does and you'd still have to buy it, whereas Sandboxie's trial can be used indefinitely and it gives much more configuration control.

No, I didin't know that you can lock whole disks with it. I know that it has a very good feature to snapshot the Virtual Zone, but I didn't know it can do whole partitions or disks.

I personally stuck with SD as it protects against the strurdiest of rookits, but of course the chances of catching one of those anyway are minimal... Ooops, maybe I shouldn't have written this, tempting fate! :)

Regarding SD licensing, I thought I made it clear in one of my previous posts that the same versions Tony released are still available through users in this forum. A lot of people want to use those versions with a new license, and a new license is backwards compatible with older versions. Some people want to keep using the program after the trial expires, so they have to get a license, but they still don't want to deal directly with the unknowns behind the SD site. It's obvious that the money still goes in the pockets of the unknowns, but some of us may still want to buy it and they should be able to do so safely, through a reputable online vendor. I provided the link for such users in the past, I just don't understand your seemingly negative reaction to it... o_O

Anyway, no matter what we use it is good, for as long at it works as advertized and provides the features we need. Buffezone does it for you and that is perfect. All our needs are as diverse as they can be anyway. :)

Imagine if we all liked the same things. Then this thread would look something like this:

KOR: Hey guys I love SD.

MozartMan: Yep, SD is da ballz man!

CyberGeezer (me): +1 to KOR & Mozart, plus Pegr and ShadowMan because I don't want to hurt their feelings. BTW did you know that SD can now also brew your morning coffee for you? It is available right now, from our secure vendor list of affiliated Digital...

    ALL (in unison): SHUT UP!

TheShadowMan: Good morning guys. First of all I have to say that I'm not affiliated in any shape or form with...

    ALL (in unison): SHUT UP!

sdmod: Guys, be quiet, The First is coming!

ALL (in unison): May eternal glory be to bestowed to The First, founder of our Sanctuary!

Cutting EdgeTech (arriving with a convoy of gorgeous naked servant girls) : Glory be to Tony and SD. Where the hell is my mead?!!!

CyberMan969, have you not heard? BufferZone PRO is 100% freeware now.

And yes it can lock entire partitions, that's what I have done. You go to "Confidential Files" and press green plus button and type in for example D: or E: etc. And then in W7 you see a huge yellow LOCK on the whole partition.

I will do, I'm curious how it's gonna play ball with Rollback RX; hopefully there will be no problems and I can dedicate a snapshot for it to try it long term.

Thank you for your kind words :)

How can SD can be called stable if it crashed twice in two days? With no antivirus installed, brand new formatted OS, clean and lean? And please don't say it; I didn't played some heavy game while in ''shadow mode'' or something else, I was right here browsing the forum. Sorry but I can call something that crash so frequently ''stable'' or ''solid''; I wish it was stable but it wasn't. I remember long time ago when I tried SD on XP at work, it was stable and I convinced a lot of my colleagues to buy it, including myself. IMHO, SD wasn't build or tested enough on Windows 7. As for the ''shadow'' part of the actual SD webmaster/developer/administrators is very simple: as long as a website that sells a product has a broken link to his support forum and is not clear if the product is still developed and by who, I don't see any valid reason to buy it or worst to install it on my pc.

And btw, the name of the actual ''owner'' is Alex Sho:

Go to XOSLAB.COM and you gonna see SD there. Toolwiz Time Freeze here I come!

Guys, please, lets keep this civilized...

Anyway, what Paul said happened to me when I tried to install SD for a friend on his Win7 Dell Inspiron laptop. The thing BSODed immediately after I installed SD and rebooted. I tried to troubleshoot but there was just something in his software mix that didn't agree with SD and as that was a production machine we didn't have the time to investigate further; we just restored his backup so he could carry on with his work.

I have since introduced SD to quite a few friends and clients and it hasn't crashed for any of them; but I saw it happening and Paul suffered it as well on a fresh Windows install. Incompatibilities do happen and they do leave a bad taste behind, it's only natural to feel so. Still, lets not bash each other for our software choices. We're better than that. This forum is better than that.

Words of wisdom, let's be civil :)

Sometimes SD works and sometimes it dosent :p I had exactly same kind of issue like your friend had with he's production machine, i was getting bsod's right after installing SD.. Well it seems my motherboard had faulty IEEE 1394 module that was causing it. Rigth after i disabled it the problem went away. So yes odd situations require odd solutions :D

Been using SD on Vertex 2 SSD drive, Windows 7 x64. With bunch of other security apps :p No problems as of yet, used virtualbox and other windows in shadow mode as well, no problems :) well see if my SSd starts to complain withing 2 days as other's have stated have happened :)

Hi Yanick, please let us know if any problems occur when using SD on your SSD. What mobo are you using? Is it on IDE, AHCI or RAID mode?

Will do :thumb: The mobo aint very latest tech :D Asus M4A78-E using AHCI mode, Trim active. I got improved stability by using Amd mobo chipset drivers instead of Asus ones :p

    1. Have you come out of Shadow Mode yet?

    2. Is TRIM working on your OS SSD?

    Best regards,

    KOR!

There are some users who have experienced problems with SD and SSDs when the system is on AHCI mode. That's the reason I've asked, thank you for your quick reply mate! :thumb:

If something goes wrong plz post your observations.

Is your BIOS set to RAID mode by any chance Quest? What chipset/storage controller are you using?

Thank you for the info Quest. Some users have had problems when running SD on SSDs on AHCI mode, that's why I wanted to make sure that your storage is set to AHCI in the BIOS/UEFI (and not IDE/RAID). King of Rapture has faced many problems with quite a few different systems when AHCI was used on SSD systems with SD installed.

As far as I know my brother is like you and has had no problems with such a config, so I was suspecting that any such incombatibilities could possibly be caused because SD may not sit well with certain hardware/software configurations. Given King's problems I'm trying to establish by other users if such a setup works for them, and maybe understand the reason why SD may work well for some, but not for others. Thanks again for the detailed input. :thumb:
