Today found version 5 of ESET Remote Administration Server on ESET download page. Upgrade tests from v.4 went smoothly, now installed on production server, also without problems.

Called ESET today to inquire about environment variable support in scan exclusions and was told that v5 supports this and that it just came out today. Good timing!

The download page says to uninstall earlier versions, but I don't like the idea of that because it would leave my clients unprotected for some time. Is there any special procedure for upgrading that you did? Did you also just run Upgrade Client tasks from ERAC?

Yesterday I upgraded Remote Administration Server only, not clients. For clients, I will begin upgrade tests today.

I'll probably just install over the top of existing v4 installs with a group policy deployment and do manual cleanup for the few that crap out on me.

Upgrade test using ERAS was OK. Before upgrade needed to reconfigure policies because v5 policies are separate from v4 and 3.

I've found that v3/v4 policies seemingly override the v5 policies. I had to create a new parent v5 policy to get some things to change.. for instance.. if I wanted "scan network drives" disabled in v5, but not v4.. the v4 policy was 'sticking' and the v5 policy was simply ignored. According the ERAS documentation that's not how it should work but that's what I was seeing.

Is anyone else having trouble upgrading clients to v5 from v4 (antivirus, not security suite)?

Any machine I attempt to push the installation to returns with access denied on the ESET registry access, and fails.

    Any ideas? Thanks! :argh:

No issues yet, the only problem was the misleading Upgrade Task that said it was finished when the installation was still going on the client. What happens if you try a diagnostics push install?
