Secure Emailing options

I am looking for an email system that works like Tigertext does for texting.

Tigertext is an app that let's you use a secure network, to send text messages which deleted themselves after a certain period of time.

Doctors use this to be able to do HIPAA complaint text messaging. We have it at our hospital, which I helped deploy.

So, I am looking for an email system that I can use with PC and BYOD where the emails are on a secure network and will delete themselves after a certain amount of time.

Anyone know of such secure email software?

 

Sure - and i'll list in order of least familiarity:

JumbleMe - No experience with this one!

ZSentry - Briefly played around with this awhile back. Basically sends email the usual way using an existing address but encrypts and holds the email options and decryption keys until receiver access.

CryptoHeaven - Most familiar with this one which is actually an "encrypted webmail service" using the "public/private key system". Everything of yours on their servers is encrypted with your public key - contacts, email, voice email, files - everything! They offer free "3 month trial accounts" unlimited times!

You have the choice to store your decryption key on their servers (anywhere access through a browser) or on your computer (decryption through their java client). Support told me last week they are in the process of creating a mobile app as well which i assume would allow local storage of your private key on mobile devices.

CH also contains encrypted "chat" and "file sharing" between CH users as well as "file storage".

If you choose, you can also send/receive email/voice email with non-CH users:

Sending: encrypted via a pre-shared passphrase (password hint available if i remember correctly)

Receiving: non-secure email is automatically encrypted with your public key when hitting the CH servers with the original deleted within 10 minutes.

All 3 of these offer the ability to put options on email such as expiry time.

Jumbleme looks like the most 'trustworthy', but I will look at them all.

I looked for secure email, and didn't find any of these guys, so thanks so much for this.

Also,I just found this article on the BYOD issue and it talks about Tigertext and the feature in which network admin can delete messages from the lost of stolen phones, which I thought was an interesting feature which you also mentioned.

I also like the discussion in this article about looking at a single BYOD solution, or piecing one together by using several solution, which I think is going to be a big challenge for IT departments in the future.

 

Have you checked out COUNTERMAIL? they are looking pretty good. i am looking for the same thing (near the same thing), super secure email. countermail looks awesome, check them out. do you know what country cryptoheaven's servers are based out of, because that largely affects the laws governing what and who is allowed to view your email, be it secure or not. countermail is located in sweden, with very strict privacy laws

 

My hesitation with CryptoHeaven is that they don't join this forum and participate... I like all they offer (voicemail, chat, etc.) but Countermail is on here and talking like they know what they are doing. Hmmm...
