Much like Avira's Webguard. They cache the traffic, scan it, then let it all through at once.

Application analyzer has nothing to do with overall system performance impact!
+ disabling or lowering scan time is 3-4 mouse clicks away... Easier, compared to your post hier

however... this is a Bitdefender topic...

You don't believe that F-Secure I.S. 2012 is one of the lightest AVs on Windows XP Pro that I have ever used? The truth is that I have multiple systems (five of them) that are more than ten years old that are still running very well. AMD Athlon XP 1.47Ghz to 2Ghz CPUs with 1GB to 2GB DDR RAM running F-Secure 2012, MBAM Pro w/real time on, SAS Pro with real time on and number of other background programs and processes running in real time such as WinFax Pro, Dragon Naturally Speaking, etc.. With several other AVs and Security Suites installed these older machines were practically unusable. With other AV/Suites running both MBAM Pro and SAS Pro in real time before wasn't possible. Right now they are responsive and reasonably fast with this setup and can do most of the basic things the newer machines do well (streaming internet video, etc., voice recognition software, etc.) without significant system slowdown.

I know the performance history of these systems and they have gone through many different AVs and security suite combinations through the years including Norton System Works 2002, 2003, McAfee AV, NOD32 v2.5x, v2.7x, v3.x, ZA Pro firewall, ZASS, ZAES. FS-IS 2012 (including MBAM Pro and SAS Pro) is by far one of the lightest and most trouble free AV/Suites ever used on these systems going back more than a decade. I have no reason to promote FS-IS 2012 other than my own satisfaction with it's performance. I can't say whether this would be everyone's experience because not all older systems with older components are the same. It seems that most of the newer AVs and suites have been moving away from bloatware that dominated the last decade. There are probably lighter AVs and suites out there that I haven't tried. Maybe many of the newer AVs are lighter. Maybe the new BD 2013 is lighter than FS-IS 2012. This thread is motivating me to do some more testing in the future just to compare. ;)

No problem. I can understand the confusion because there are a number of them using the BD engine and BD 2012 was reported to have slow performance issues. I was going to try G-Data because it has been top rated in the detection tests along with BD and FS but I never got around to it because FS-IS 2012 seemed to work so well. With the exception of it completely auto uninstalling MBAM Pro during initial install (which I had to re-install after adding exclusions to the various exclusion lists) I have literally had zero issues with FS-IS 2012. I really like what I am reading about this new BD-TS 2013. I will consider testing the trial version when it's out of beta. :thumb:

    hi..

ive tested GData fro enough time.. GData got a remarkable detection rate..and i can say that's because of its powerfull engines.. there are two Engines : Engine A & Engine B.. Engine A means Bitdefender and Engine B means Avast!

when u do an on-demand scan, files are checked and if engine A found threats the file will b listed as infected and engine A will be shown as the detector.. and it wont b checked again with engine B.. and if not recognized with engine A it goes for B.

you don't believe during my malware tests , i never have seen malwares get passed from engine A..!!

but also have 2 say that all these are happened by its database.. i mean basically GData is powered by its engines .. no BB no HIPS only database..!
so if there is an Zero-day malware u have the least chance to b protected.
in the last dynamic tests bitdefender won the battle.. and the products which were using the same engine got the lower places in the ranking.
    why ?
because as i said for example GData only have its engine and database , it doesnt have Bitdefender BB or HIPS or other modules.. so BD does these perfectly when encountering zero-day malwares.

    best regards.

Tested this a second time tonight and it was flawless again. It's really growing on me, though I find VSSERV.exe using a decent amount of ram and cpu.

Also not a huge fan of the GUI. I know a lot of people go nuts for the black GUIs, but I prefer more color. ALso, I do not find it very intuitive. For instance I closed the gadget. Was going to add it back, but couldn't find it in the settings. Usually I am able to find what I am looking for pretty fast.

Very impressed so far even with this first beta.

My previous experiences with BD had seen slowdowns and bugs but this version is as light as a feather here in feel and appears very stable so far.

Other AVs I have ran/am running with the BD engine-BullGuard and TrustPort-have always been light but this is the first BD version I have tried which now matches these two. Still a little heavy on startup but with its detection rate now matched by performance they may have a winner here (I also like the GUI).

Now they just need to decrease the sensitivity to other security software when installing e.g ignore MalwareBytes.

it's always light in Beta version and the first month but wait until they have released the Final product and after a month it will slow down the PC.

You should add your bank site once manually, by launching "safepay" browser(settings safepay)
Point of "safepay" is, launching automatically on added by the user sites! Otherwise, it will launch on each "https" or a worldwide bank database would be necessary (bank sites updater)

That would be a better choice(bank database and payment systems like Paypal etc.) Otherwise you have to rely on the user to manually add their bank and payment sites which they might not do at all or they miss some payment systems. Afaik the 2013 beta of Kaspersky does it this way.

Thanks for getting back to me with your opinion, will keep a close eye on this thread and see what the outcome is once the program is released.

BD2013 auto-deleted one of my files. Is there a way to recover? Also, for going forward, is there a way to set this to ask me first. I had auto-pilot off, and it still did it without asking.

Edit - Also, there appears to be no way to close the program. Most AVs I can right click the system tray icon and close it out. Doesn't appear to be anyway to do that with BD2013.
