I am a new user and am trying to migrate from Norton 360. However, after many attempts to run the NRT using your copy and the current copy from Symantec, the message "Norton Internet Security" found always shows during ESET 5 installation. Please note that the specific Symantec product "Norton Internet Security" was never installed (only 360), so it appears that some code can't be totally removed. Would it be something in the registry?

A well known Forum Help Guru assisting me with a most recent Security Update Failure opined that the failure of Best Buy to completely remove Norton from my new computer in 11/06 could likely be the cause of Every Issue I've ever posted in the Forum he's most active in.

Have run Norton Remover several times since at various Helpers' requests and my ESET Vendor STILL sees remnants in his USB Lockup help for me. IF the next computer I want has Norton on it it will be left in the store.

    Hello,

Just to check, when people are talking about removing the Symantec Norton software, they are using the Symantec Norton Removal Tool to clear the system prior to installing ESET Smart Security, correct?

    Regards,

Yeah I certainly ran it along with several reg cleaners & a manual search for left over files & still it gets picked up as installed when trying to install eset ss.

    Hi there.

Do RegEdit then delete all registry keys that say "Symantec".
After that, you might want to search for Symantec files/folder which probably still left behind and delete them whenever you find them.

    Good luck

I haven't seen anyone say that they have used the removal tool after rebooting into safe mode. That should ensure that no parts of the program are being loaded into memory, where they are nearly impossible to remove.

I did all of this and as stated hit continue and ignore finally after 5 unsuccessful attempts and 3 re installs. Norton isn't on my system, I have cleaned registry twice
