Welcome to Wilders, Barba! Disable all but session cookies. Then add only sites you trust as exceptions to that rule.

Despite the sometimes scarifying descriptions of "evil cookies" and "data miners" I certainly wouldn't panic about it. As whatever program you're using notes, the risk level is low. Usually cookies are associated with a web site although the info you posted doesn't contain any site info. And some cookies can be useful in retaining some continuity within a site so it can function properly, especially if you're making online purchases.

I can't tell about that specific cookie since there is no site info associated with it. I retain some cookies for some sites (such as Wilders for example ;) ) because they're useful to me. What program are you using to find and identify that specific cookie? It might be helpful if you could look in your browser and see how the cookie is actually noted, with some site ID info to see if it's a cookie you might be not so concerned about. Are you using IE?

Thanks so much for your advice...I empty my cookies (except for the ones I want to keep for sites I visit regularly. This annoying little file has nothing to do with any of them. It doesn't seem to harm anything, but is like having a few grains of sand in your sandals! [IMG]

I wouldn't describe my feeling as "panic"..it is simply annoying. [IMG] I use SpyBlaster, which has done a fantastic job for me. Haven't used the holey buggy IE Explorer for a long time, nor MS Outlook...I believe that is simply begging for trouble.

I empty my cookies on a regular basis, except for the ones for sites I visit on a regular basis. I know this file will not hurt me, but have been picking up for such a long time and it has become annoying. There is no information in this file or in it's properties to indicate where it came from...only the information I listed which was supplied by AdAware. I run AdAware every night and that irritating file is there 90% of the time. I rarely purchase anything on the net, and certainly not on a daily basis.

    Thanks for your response! [IMG]
