VS - What is latest version. I am running 1.02. It looks from here that 1.03 is available. -http://www.prlog.org/11856886-voodooshield-103-new-approach-to-virus-protection.html Have you started sales yet?
I don't see anything new on there website other than version 1.02, if there is a new version released it would be nice to know what has been added to VD.
Website is now showing 1.03. I downloaded and installed over previous version. I don't see a change log. No obvious changes in GUI etc.
Sorry for the slow response, yes, we finished the beta test and VoodooShield has been available for sale for a couple of months now.
Hi, version 1.03 just added a Trial Version so that users do not have to register for 14 days. Version 1.04 will be released in a couple of days. It adds password protection to VoodooShield.
Ok, I'm trying VS for the first time. I just completed training mode, and I must say this program has a lot of potential. I believe I will soon be adding VS to my layered security setup. I believe the deny by default, and only allow those programs which the user has deemed trustworthy as a much more secure / wiser approach to cyber security. I'm very interested in helping with this applications development. I would like to beta test, and assist with QA testing if needed. 1. VS needs a GUI that uses a tabbing interface similar to Appguard or NoVirus Thanks Radar Exe Pro. Give the option to access the GUI by right clicking on the tray icon. VS is already employing this technique so no real change here. Here is where the additional options come into play. The user should be presented with a tabbed UI after selecting settings. Below are needed tabs to access additional features: A. A tab containing a list of all applications that have been added to the allowed list by learning mode. Maybe later as VS grows in capability you could add the ability to allow the user to edit particular rules for each application that has been added to the allowed list. B. A logging tab which shows a list of all blocked executions. Give the user the option to choose what length of time to retained logs before purging them. Possible options could be per session, per so many days, and also an option which allows the user to purge the log on demand. A button would suite the on demand option well. The user could click on a button labelled clear. The user would then be prompted are you sure you want to clear all logs. The user would then click yes to clear all logs. C. An exception tab that will allow the user to define separate partitions, directories, folders, paths, drives, etc.. to allow executables to lunch from. D. A tab to define how often the program should check for updates. If that seems like a lot then start by just adding tabs A, and B. I believe those tabs are needed the most. Particularly tab B which presents the user with a log of blocked executions.
Thank you Cutting_Edgetech! We like and appreciate all of your suggestions! VS is cloud based, so some of the features that you mentioned will be available on the cloud at some point. When we first started developing VS over a year ago, we decided that we wanted it to be a simple as possible, but still fully functional. I think a lot of the security software is just too complex. So we are trying to find the perfect balance between simplicity and functionality. Thank you again for all of your suggestions!
If nothing else it would be nice to have logging functionality to be able to see what has been blocked per session. Thank You for your reply!
I totally agree. We really like the ideas that you and other people on wilders have suggested, we just have to figure out which ones to do first, and we have to keep in mind that we want VS to be as simple as possible.
We just started a Pay Per Download campaign with download.com, and it is actually getting the word out faster than anything we have tried. If you get a chance, could please review VS on their website, we would seriously appreciate it. Thank you! http://download.cnet.com/VoodooShield/3000-2239_4-75610747.html?tag=mncol;1
Needs an installation mode so applications, and updates can be installed without having to learn the behavior. The only other option I see which I have been using is to completely shut down VoodooShield.
Hi Cutting_Edgetech, we used to have an OFF mode, but figured that when it was OFF, it should be learning. Maybe we can include an OFF Mode right click option listed with the other 3 modes. Is that what you had in mind? Thank you!
Check this out, siliconprairienews.com did a story on us, and they mentioned wilderssecurity.com! http://www.siliconprairienews.com/2012/06/with-white-list-voodooshield-aims-to-change-antivirus-game
Don't take this the wrong way, but anyone smart enough would stay away from Cnet. You can search this very same forum for stories about Cnet, and you won't get bored.
Are you talking about the toolbars that they add to the installers? We had them remove the toolbars from our installer. If there is another reason, PLEASE let us know!! Thank you!
Hey CloneRanger, you are right, this is all your fault . But yeah, if everything goes the way we are thinking it will, we will certainly have to thank you in some cool way! Thanks again for finding us!
An off mode to me would work just the same as an installation mode so yes that is what I mean. I would like to see an off mode option added. Thank you for your response!
I'm an avid Appguard user, and VoodooShield uses a similar deny by default approach like AG. I think each one has its strength's, and should compliment each other well. I'm going to try to use these 2 together. I'm really liking VS so far. I've been using it for 5 days now. There are some features I have suggested I would like to see added, but it works great just the way it is.
Sure, thank you for the feedback! Just to clarify, you are suggesting an Off / Install Mode, so that the installer does not become part of the whitelist? Or is there some other reason to have an Off / Install Mode? When I install new software, I just left click on VS, but the only downside that I am aware of is that it adds the installer to the whitelist. Thank you in advance!
Thank you, we appreciate that! Hopefully after we add the new features, you will be an avid VoodooShield user! Thank you!
