What is better archive or TrueCrypt encryption

    What is more secure archive or TrueCrypt encryption

    Is TrueCrypt more secure than archive programs like WinRAR and 7-Zip? 7-Zip uses AES-256 and WinRAR uses AES-128. Which one would be harder to crack since they all use AES.

    Since Daniel Dantas' hard drives still sit encrypted...I'd go with TrueCrypt.

    I would never trust Winrar or any other proprietary software encrypt my data. Nobody can check their algorithms for backdoors and they will bend over if government will ask them for keys. So yeah, Im sure they have backdoors ready.
    TrueCrypt for me.

    7-Zip is open source. So I assume everyone thinks both 7-Zip and WinRAR would be easy to crack.

    TrueCrypt has very unique functionality that I doubt the other 2 programs have. For example, TrueCrypt can create hidden volumes, that if instructions are followed properly, make it near bullet proof for detection, let alone brute forced decryption.

    Yea I guess this is why I'm constantly seeing cases where Computer Forensic Exterminators are crying about not being able to crack either, the only way is to bruitforce a weak password! and their not doing it in the time period given $$$ so it just goes on the shelf in the evidence room with the rest of the crap they cant crack ;)
