Good Afternoon ! Anybody had problems with Firefox and Opera crashing with Bitdefender ? This has occurred twice since install yesterday. I re-installed Eset and no problems, so I'll re-install Bitdefender too see if the flaw replicates itself. Sincerely...Securon

Are they trusted? I might recommend this link to a friend but I don't want him to buy some blacklisted keys

Good Evening ! Tried re-installing Bitdefender only to encounter the message On-Access scanning disabled...and it asks the user to click on the Start prompt to fix the problem...I complied and it states fix failed. Also when downloading it asks the user to disable both Firefox and Opera. And I use WSA Essentials should it be removed to install Bitdefender ? I also went to Bitdefenders site to download a new installer. Where do I go from here? Sincerely...Securon

100% completely trusted. Trust me, they're legit.

are you running any other security products alongside BD 2012? did you use the previous product's removal tool(s) to ensure that there were no drivers or registry entries left behind? bitdefender is super picky about things like that. barring either of those two situations, i'd suggest contacting BD support.

their storefront looks like it's powered by v3, so i'd trust it too. majorgeeks uses them (v3) as well. lots of good deals on all of those sites. *EDIT* whoops, zfactor beat me to it :p

Good Evening ! Mounds...I have WSA Essentials running alongside Bitdefender, and before re-installing Bitdefender I cleaned the Registry remnants using C-Cleaner. It seems as you mentioned Bitdefender is particular as to other apps...and as mentioned it asks to remove both Firefox and Opera when installing...that doesn't impress me. For the time being I've installed Vipre I.S.2012...and now in the latest definition it's made meaningful inroads in reducing scan times...I think I'll stay with Vipre as it's a more straightforward app. and I noticed it received impressive results in VB-100 testing. So it's all good. Sincerely...Securon

You're not impressed because it's picky? So is Kaspersky Internet Security which Ive had just recently. thats even more picky.

Me personally, I always create an image of my HDD of the point before I installed an Anvitirus or security suite so incase I have trouble with one suite or Antivirus, I dont simply uninstall, I go back to the image I created using Acronis True Image before installing the Antivirus. That way I always have a clean registry.

There is an app called AppRemover which can help you properly remove an Antivirus or Security solutions and all its registry entries, even helps to remove leftover remnants after you have uninstalled it manually yourself (which you should never do as those Antivirus uninstallers are crap)

and don't use registry cleaners they won't help your case as they just delete stuff but might miss the antivirus reg entries. Use Appremover or better yet format your PC and see how that changes the whole way Bitdefender works or any other suite for that matter

This is the bad thing about Bitdefender... It might have top rank, but it has WAY too many unexpected errors. And not one of the lighter ones either. Their support just can't solve them because it's deep in BD I guess.

I guess I didn't face any issues because I did a clean install, as in, I didn't have any security software installed prior to installing Bitdefender Internet Security

Not sure where that is coming from as I recently re-installed KI2012 (something I do periodically to refresh the install) and of all the apps mentioned previously it complained about none of them on my system...but did complain about MBAM.

I uninstalled that, installed KIS & then reinstalled MBAM...and no further issues. Certainly none with respect to Firefox or Opera...and certainly none re. WSA (which has been designed for the ground up by Prevex...sorry....Webroot...to be compatible with the vast majority of other security apps...and does a good job in that respect.

BD2012 did not complain about anything installed, ie, Firefox or Opera, but was the pits when it came to performance and stability...on my system.

So this has me puzzled. o_O

Good Evening ! I uninstalled both Firefox and Opera and WSA Essentials. I re-installed Bitdefender I.S.2012 and the installer and program installed smoothly. I used C Cleaner to clean the registry and many many remnant files from Opera were revealed...so I'm not re-installing Opera...but re-installed Firefox. I also re-installed WSA Essentials...and at the moment everything is co-existing harmoniously. Time will Tell ! Sincerely...Securon

re tested this again since i do own a few lic's to it... and was just testing this on a laptop i have and when i try to run dvdfab i get a total green pixelated screen. i uninstalled it and get a bsod now upon boot up. prior to installing bd2012 dvdfab ran perfectly fine in fact i used it just this morning. restored backup prior to bd2012 and all is fine again...

i had a ton of issues when 2012 released, and i hadn't used it again since then. installed it on my desktop to try again and it seems like it's smoothed out quite a bit. i'm not noticing any browsing slowdown (which was AWFUL before. worse than the 2010 and 2011 releases w/phishing protection enabled) and i've had no weird network issues either. color me surprised.

awesome. bookmarked that thread. it's also nice that they finally started making the uninstall utility more easily available. with previous versions, they required that you contact support and you'd get a single-use link to download it.
