Well since uninstalling SD 331, and installing SD 325. I have noticed some weird things happening on my PC. I cant do full scans with EMISOFT Antimalware 6.5 anymore without my computer (BSOD) Bluescreening. When the scans about 90% done it bluescreens. Also noticed some Malicious connections outward as well as portscanning attempts.

Keep in mind, I use Comodo Firewall(Custom)+ ESET Anti-malware + Sandboxie (All browsers ) Defensewall HIPS. Appguard. And ShadowDefender 3.25

-- All software except Comodo Firewall is disabled while scanning. No other applications are running while this is going on.

I think you have too many applications. Disabling programs often doesn't kill the conflict. What is really strange, if I understood correctly, the fact you get these problems with version SD 325 and not SD 331. Have you tried re-installing 331 just to verify whether is actually 325 causing your bluescreens?

I would also try to check how other scanners perform like MBAM, after all it isn't really crucial to base the functioning of all your security layers on the performance of Emisoft (perhaps you could also exclude your applications with Emisoft). There are really too many variables.

pm me your email and I will send you version 1.1.325
I've checked it hundreds of times and use it myself.

    best wishes

Patrick (ex Shadow Defender moderator) Let me know if you want the 32 or 64 bit version. Are you using the correct version for your operating system?

As far as I know SD doesn't use a buffer file and I wondered many times in the past how it tracks the actual changes and where it stores that temporary data. Anyone knows?

The redirected disk sectors are held in a hidden file called diskpt0.sys. There is a diskpt0.sys file in the root directory of each volume that is in Shadow Mode. The file is created on entry to Shadow Mode for a volume and deleted on exit from Shadow Mode. You need to show hidden files and folders AND protected operating system files in order to see it listed in Explorer.

Thanks for that pegr, I suspected so because the diskpt0.sys file has a constant size so it must be some sort of sector map. It's a bit of a shame that there is no specific files containing the buffer data. If that was the case I was hoping to junction the parent folder with my 25GB RAMdisk as the destination drive.

I might still try this with Toolwiz Time Freeze. I really want to have a light-virtualization buffer existing in RAM, and NTFS junctions plus a large superfast RAMdisk could be the way.

Unfortunately that's the way it is. If you want to download build 325, see post #680. As far as I know, any SD license works with any SD build.

Got 3.25 from The shadow, post # 680 - its all good.If anyone is thinking of it from the link supplied as suggested by shadow, ignore the big download box that appears after, thats not the installer for SD.Be patience the extract installer will follow shorty.Just close out the download box out.No worrys - no rogue runs.

Can I download the latest 331 installer from the official site? I mean is it safe? Oh my! I want to use shadow defender. But with all the controversy I don't know if I should download it from the official site or not.

    Please help me someone.

    Best Wishes,

Maybe it would be best if a brief explanation regarding the current status of SD could be stickied by an admin. It could contain links to the older Tony versions as posted on this thread by the regulars, and also Digital River links for the product which I have posted myself on this thread a few days ago. This way any future SD newbies can safely download a Tony version, try it, then buy it via Digital River and their affiliates. The benefit to this is that new users would be able to safely buy it from a reputable source, without having to deal directly with the current silent unknown owners (who have possibly highjacked the product and its domain).

The way it is now we keep answering the same questions every few days. If all the info was to be stickied at the top of the Sandboxing & Virtualization sub-forum this would benefit all new SD users out there, and all of us would have to endure less repetition.

When people keep asking "Should I download it from the official site?", I think that question has alread been answered; There is no developer support or contact, it's probably not owned by the person that developed the original software
    Where does your money go?
    who knows?
It's probably not the person who deserves the reward for all his work.

We can all be pretty sure now that 1.1.0.325 is safe because many people are using it and we don't hear cries "Help" or "I've been hacked" or "My system has collapsed" etc.

The versions that I've got have been virus checked many times and have been found clean and I have passed them to many people on the forum. Drop me your email (I don't keep them) by pm and let me know if you want 32 bit or 64 bit version.

I (for one) believe that 331 is perfectly safe - I've been using it for several months and with no ill effects (as I've stated in prior posts). Various anti-malware scans reveal no issues whatsoever.

That said, I think the question is really whether or not you feel like supporting the new website operators who do not have the courtesy to answer inquiries regarding sales, or respond to customer support questions. I bought 331 before learning from Patrick (sdmon) that it was being run in this manner.

I agree thats its safe but I am using version 3.25. I have download 3.31 directly from the SD site to my download folder and upload it to Virus total. There is 3 hits of 42 but if you look at the ones that flag the installer its obvious FPs.

Now the real concern here is the exchange of money if one opt to purchase it,and not of the excutable in its self.

My opinion is that, new users should stop buying from the new owners a license. By buying from them, that you are giving them money that they do not deserve to get. It's kinda sick to steal a person's hard work and then sell it for your own.

My belief is that regardless of where you buy a license, the fee (or a percentage thereof) goes to those running the website.

I understand you...it's a little bit crazy situation, but we still have a question - where new users should buy SD? :doubt:

I would like to believe that no one stole anything, but that Tony (who resided in Beijing) sold SD's source code to a Chinese person who does not speak/write english. :doubt:
