I've had Vipre AV for a year on two XP machines. Everything was fine in terms of impact and speed except after one of their upgrades every now and again I experienced unexplained freezing of the OS which could be only unblocked by a hard shutdown.

I changed to another solution only because I decided that on weak machines it is more practical to use on demand scanners rather than real time detection.

 

I have G Data Internet Security 2013
And as a extra layer WSA
And no slow downs here
Everything runs smooth!

everything you have running on a PC causes a slowdown,its just the amount of slowdown that varies!
