I am considering using Terabyte's Image For Linux to backup my computer. The HD capacity is 250gb with 30gb in use. Can I use a 80gb USB external drive to backup this machine or do I need an external drive with a capacity>250gb?
    Thanks in advance,
    ZZ

    zzulu,

Your images will be about 15 GB so you will be able to store up to 5 images on your 80 GB HD.

You can image/restore Ubuntu with IFL/IFW/IFD. They all create the same image file.

    Thanks for the quick response.
That's good news. This backup software seems to be popular and reliable and I didn't want to have to spring for a larger external drive.
    Thanks again.
    Cheers,
    ZZ

as I mentioned in another post, it will be safer to backup the ubuntu drive using both IFL and Clonezilla live.
