Can we trust SuperAntispyware high-speed scanning process?

I was amazed of how fast it was compared to other scanners I've met. SuperAntispyware scans so fast especially when Activate Scan Boost and High Boost mode are check..even check complete scan.

I know, it's cool having this kind of super fast scanning engine. But I was wondering if we can trust this scanning engine. If it really catch up malwares in this super speed scanning mode.

What's your thoughts?

the last time I tried to scan with high boost my system showed error and restarted itself.....now I do it without scan boost...........

 

I use the High Boost. I don't think it impacts detection. It just allows for more CPU/RAM usage to SAS so the scan goes as fast as possible.

The only consideration is it is best to use high boost when you aren't doing anything else on the computer.

3 ways to speed up a scan beyond fundlemental code efficiency improvements.

1) Allocate greater system resources.
2) Check fewer locations.( <--- most common practice)
3) Check against a reduced database.(<--- Very covert practice)

2 or 3 would weaken the integrity of any *scan* but give you the smoke and mirrors impression that all is normal.

Those types of quick scans have a value if *time* is the most importent factor when assessing what it most importent from an application

I can rmember reviewing an application back some years called NoAdware and boy it was lightning fast something like 2 minutes to run a scan.

I tested it against a lot then current malware infections and its detection rate was absolutely hopeless. Fast came to the conclusion all that glitters is not gold

 

first off let me rephrase your question : do we need SAS at all?

answer: NO!

just use hitman ,for the rest mbam pro, and trash SAS its a pos

Can't say I agree with you at this time.

SAS is a valuable tool and has some great removal and repair capabilities.

If you were going to pick one second opinion scanner tho, I'd advise MBAM or HMP though.

 

Which also will bring to mind for some another long ago scanner that exhibited almost "instantaneous" scannning properties howbeit, it's detections did on occasion accurately display found mal objects even if only leftover traces. The app i mention was known as Bazooka.

I would add that sometimes a quick scan (or the even faster Critical Point Scan in SAS or Flash Scan in MBAM) can nail the malware (or the worst of it) so you can regain control of the system. Malware often degrades performance, blocks the internet connection, etc, and a quick scan can sometimes turn things around and make the system a lot easier to work on.

By the way, where is the activate Scan Boost/High Boost feature? I'm not seeing it in the settings.

I agree. SAS Pro has saved the day for me a few times in the past, but MBAM is my real time defense.

 

With todays large hard drives (vast compared to 20 years ago), there is room for multiple protection. Personally I like HMP, MBAM, SAS. Fast scans are fine as long as you are not multi-tasking, as others have suggested. What one doesn't find, hopefully another will. HMP's soon to be banking Trojan looks very exciting.
