imo a bad move on ms' part this will kinda suck if they insist no one makes a metro based interface for win 8...

After reading the the comments, if they are right that there are no viruses for ARM since the lack of desktop, then why would you need metro interface for an AV? But then again, it might have some vulnerabilities...

-_- I'm sooo not on board with Win 8.

It has become clear that MS is doing an "every other" release program...

Windows XP is loved. Vista is hated. 7 is loved. 8 will be hated. Can't wait for Windows 9 :D.

More Metro cloud... :D (I said it in another thread.). Wait and see, Windows 9 will be full Metro. :argh: Hopefully, it won't be Metro, at all... but, we never know... :D

I'm not getting the point of Metro on PC anyway. Metro was designed for handheld mobile devices, stuff that you control with a fat finger on a small screen. That's why you need big icons and Microsoft simply opted for simple graphics in squares to do that job. But on high resolution, big size screens which you control with a high precision pointing device that can be per-pixel accurate. Why!? It's pointless.

Good, lets cut down on the fear mongers a tad.

Besides, the ARM version won't be able to run standard programs (including viruses) only Metro apps, which are from a protected marketplace, AV is pointless.

Windows 8 metro stuff is horrendous for desktop, what on earth are Microsoft thinking? Why remove the start button, the command centre of the OS, why ruin a perfectly good thing?

Now i must make several additional clicks just to browse the locally installed programs, it makes no sense. The purpose of implementing a new menu if required should be to streamline and simplify the whole process. Microsoft got it right with Windows 7.

Metro graphics are useless also, who wants a cheapish dulux matt finish as opposed to a high glossy aero glass like theme? Fair enough if to render the aero theme more electricity is required but c'mon make a compromise somewhere. I bet Apple will seize this opportunity to now go and patent the "Start" or "Home" button.

Winkey+Q should get you the list of installed programs, if I understand what you are trying to get to.

The whole concept of squares and grids (WP7 and Metro) is kinda lame IMO. To each his own. :D
