I received an e-mail from Webroot with a new key for the beta version, because the other one is no good.

But, to download the most recent version I need to go through two tracking services, at least.

I dislike that approach. It's too abusive. Why not a simple direct download link? o_O

    Thank you

They just gave me a free 1 year license. The last thing I am going to do is complain about how to download the file.

You can download using the same link you received when you first signed up - the beta versions are controlled by the downloaded program, not the license key. There were a few different beta programs and you can use the same one you received when it first started.

I believe you'll have received a new license key within the text of the email which should let you get a full copy of Essentials. We just sent out a batch of emails with free licenses to our closed beta testers saying this as we're now moving into a single license format to help with the transition of P3 users as well as give our beta testers some additional functionality as a thank you for their assistance.

Let me know if you have any questions!

    Hi
The free license is a very very fine gesture, "thanks"

    Hi Joe,

If I am understanding this correctly, not only did we receive a free one year license key, but also an upgraded version of SecureAnywhere that also provides us with pre-release (beta) versions ahead of the normal version. If I am incorrect then please let me know. Either way, I certainly do appreciate the free key:) .

And, in return they get valuable feedback. The least they could have is some respect. They give something, we give something back as well - feedback. Not tracking us.

    -edit-

When I registered back then for the beta, they always sent me direct download links. But, now they need to track us? o_O

    @ PrevxHelp

If I had the download link, I wouldn't be mad at it. ;)

Is this also the case if you just download a trial copy of Essentials and enter the key code that you were provided?

You can enter the key you receive into any download to make it Essentials.

I'm not sure if they're the same version. Anyway, there's no direct download link at their website either. I need to provide a name and e-mail. I don't even know whether or not I'll receive a direct download link in the e-mail either. I won't even waste my time on it.

It beats the hell out of me why some security vendors need to do all this, just so that we can get a damn installer.

I just figured I wouldn't mind trying it out again, and give feedback, as I did in the past.

    I'll pass it, though. o_O

I sent you a link via PM. You will have received this link previously when you first signed up for the closed beta so it really shouldn't be a problem. The email collection is so that we can provide a unique license key for each user.

Yes, thanks. I actually got it already. I found a direct download link @ Softpedia, from an older version, which downloaded the most recent one.

I don't mind having to provide an e-mail address. I did provide it in the past, when I registered for the beta. Which is why I don't understand why so much trouble to be able to get a new beta version.

It would be nice to have a direct download link, whenever Webroot sends a new e-mail to beta testers. You used to do that, which was great. I don't know why you no longer do it.

It seemed to me that the link in the email that I received was a direct download link.

    Thanks Webroot!

I also received this email, however I purchased a 3 year licence (Prevx) on the 24.10.2010 about 2 weeks before the purchase by Webroot.
I should have approximately 566 days left on my licence, currently it is set at 365 days.

Have I lost 200 days, or will these still be credited as I assume SecureAnywhere is no longer in beta.

Or is this a goodwill gesture by Webroot, for all beta testers?

Will a separate licence be issued, to those who find themselves in a similar situation as myself?

This is a goodwill gesture. You'll still be receiving a P3 replacement license as well.

    Hello all :) ,

I received the email providing the new beta key and the link to download the latest beta version. So as advised, i uninstalled WSA-E beta and reinstalled it with the new keycode... But a popup message invited me after installation to register my new beta product. That's what i did by filling in the form. Then i received a confirmation email with a link to register. It asked for 2 random new keycode characters. But it rejected them all even after several tries... to no avail.
Is it normal for this beta version and am i still protected?
    Thanks for your help.

    Cheers,
    Herve

In the form you filled out to register, there was a place for you to put your code, besides the password. Then the system asks you for two letters out of that code. So for example, if your code was "cookie" and it asked for the 2nd and 4th letters, you'd put in "ok".

I was contacted by a Webroot Employee and this is what he said!

Also you should be using the download link from your your original email from last year when you joined the Closed Beta Program! I hope this helps for some!

Is this still in progress? I was a closed beta tester but haven't received any email notification so far regarding licensing.

Thank you very much Joe for this new keycode valid for 365 days!:thumb:
Just a question if you don't mind:
I purchased an official key last december (i never used it), will it still be valid at the end of the new beta test?

Again many thanks to you and Webroot!

    Cheers,
    Herve
