Just take your time. Although we are looking forward to the new version the 3.1.0.3 is running flawlessly. No reason to hurry.

Bitdefender Trafficlight is flagging http://binisoft.org as containing malware. It's funny cause I just unistalled Windows firewall control and mbam had picked up a trace in the system 32 folder. The reason I was going to the site was to redownload the program to scan with mbam to see if it was the culprit.

I have just installed BitDefender TrafficLight and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. As you can see in the following screenshots, the website appears to be safe and the log file for wfc.exe is also clean.

False alarm. :) You should check your computer.

    It reports safe here...

    -edit-

By the way, there's something that I've experiend in different systems (mine and relatives), and it's that if you open TrafficLight settings, you'll see Last updated on: date_here. But, they're not the same all the time, even when connected at the same time.

How come an in-the-cloud service has this update status, and why does it lag? I'm talking about Google Chrome extension, by the way. Could that Last updated on: date_here be influencing the different results?

If you say it's clean that's all that matters. I restored to a image previous to installation and everything is back to normal not that that means anything.I had been to the site a number of times prior to yesterday with no warning from Bitdefender Trafficlight . But it did yesterday and still is today. I'm sure everything is just a false alarm but I only have $5 invested and I'm going pass. Best of luck to you

Here is a new screenshot including the notification window. The new Learning Mode system knows about a blocked connection and will not bother the user again about the same blocked connection. The result: that checkbox about "Do not ask me again about this program" is not needed anymore. Unfortunately there is no new version available to download, because I still have to implement some stuff before it's ready.

I'm almost done with the new version. I have to create the setup system and the uninstaller and do some more tests. Soon it will be ready for download. Here is a preview of Manage Rules window.

Already registered users will get this update and all future updates for free. For the rest of the users the donation amount to become a registered user will remain the same: 10$
The new version will be available this month. Sooner or later.

I like the find invalid rules idea ,but when invalid rules are found (and automatically highlighted) i would have expected clicking "delete" would have been logical next step to remove them. However this doesnt happeno_O .

You need to select the highlighted item firstly; 'Delete Rule' then.

BTW, it seems that this feature isn't in next new version also (snapshot in #688 post) [like 'Created by WFC' filter].

Ahh thanks.I assumed the highlighting would be something like spyshelters "cleanup rules" where the invalid rules are ALL listed and automatically ticked (or highlighted). It would be tedious to have to individually select and delete invalid rules.I hope that the setting isnt removed.I dislike redundant entries.

This has no sense at all with the new version. Allways the rules created by the user are first in the list because they have no associated group.
I will implement this in the new version. The current version does not support multiple selection in Manage Rules. The new version includes such a feature and this thing will be possible. You will be able to select 150 rules and delete all with one mouse click.
That feature exists also in the new version, but the screenshot does not contain that button. It will be there.

    What will be also new:
    1. Multiple rules can have the same name. Those random (ugly) strings are not required anymore because now every rule is unique by a hash instead of it's name.
    2. The notification window will allow the user to choose a rule name before create the new rule. If he chooses to customize the rule.
    3. In the notification window, that checkbox with "Do no alert me again about this program" is removed. Now the notification system can filter properly already blocked rules.
    And many many more...

when are you going to implement rule blocks (zones)?
as long wfc treats user with singles rules accoding the built in firewall user
will deactivate this one and try other not such complicated software.

myself had look'n'stop, jetico and other puzzles and dropped them completely.
annoying job to work on tons of rules. thats why software like outpost or similar
has lots of fans - i use windows 7 firewall control and have own zones for a
    quick use.

from my point there is either no need to control software that far (on ip and port)

a similar experiment here was torchsoft malware defender (a hips) - at least i
created groups with predefined rules. nevertheless MD failed this way it makes
    working much more comfortable.

So I skimmed this thread last week and installed WFC. At first I only do low filtering but now it is letting me do medium or even high filtering (which I know cuts off all connections).

I thought it wasn't supposed to do medium filtering unless you paid? I am donating $10 regardless. I see that it only notifies of blocked programs with paid, which is a feature I want.

Any configuration advice please? All I have done is clicked on 'manage rules' and disabled some stuff, I'd like to minimize ports open, and block off everything for the web except my browser and I will change WFC to low level filtering to update some apps once in a while. Again any configuration advice would be great, I used to have all day to tinker with things, now not so much :)
