I just purchased and installed appguard in a xp sp3 machine and I could not make it to work. All the features are disabled and the about screen shows as "license status Unknown". I am not able to get to activate it. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks jmonge for your help. I can check if there is any conflict. I am not even getting the startup license box from appguard during system startup. I also checked if Comodo has sandboxed it. I will give it a try once I am at that pc.

Bon Voyage Everyone! I will be leaving on vacation next week so please be sure to email any pressing questions or issues to AppGuard@BlueRidgeNetworks.com. As much as I'll miss you all, I won't be checking the forum for the next two weeks:D

Sadly, I'm back from vacation. I had a great time and wish that I was still sailing around the Caribbean .

Hopefully we will run the Beta the first week of April and then release in mid-April. We are still struggling with the SAM issue. We have now been able to recreate the problem in-house, but not at will, so we have not been able to find the fix yet.

    Hey,

Do you mean the SAM problem I reported earlier, being locked out from my computer when it resumed from "Sleep" mode on Windows 7 - 32bit?

If that's the case, I'm glad you guys were able to reproduce it, so it's not only just me experiencing it. I wouldn't like to see this problem carried over to the next release of AppGuard you guys are planing for this April. I hope you can fix it soon. It's the only thing keeping me away form your otherwise excellent program.

I do fully agree 100% with you, jmonge. :)
AppGuard is an excellent security program. Throw in Sandboxie, a good back-up program, and an image of your OS and, if you are careful enough, you have nothing to worry about.

However, it has this SAM bug problem which I'd like the developers to address and fix before using it again. I dislike to be locked out from my PC whenever it resumes from "Stand-by" [also known as "Sleep" on Windows 7].

Yes, that's the one. So far we have only seen this on a handful of PCs and we have not been able to replicate it at will. It seems that it only happens on Windows 7 32 bit. If anyone has seen this issue on XP, VISTA or 64 bit machines, please let us know.

Does anyone else use WSA with AG? I have been using them together since WSA came out, and there has always been a problem between the two. AG blocks WSA from updating. When WSA shuts down to install the update AG blocks it, and WSA is unable to start back again. I have tried setting many exception for this, and none will work anymore. AG blocks WSA access to the registry in the AG log. I have memory gurad exception set to read / write for WSA, and C:/programs Webroot set as an exception. I also have Webroot set as a trusted publisher. This has always been a problem for me since day one, but I have been disabling AG to update WSA in the past. Anyone else experiencing this problem?

Good News (and some not so good news):

The good news is that we have FINALLY been able to isolate the SAM issue. It has been there for a while (since we started supporting 64 bit in July 2010), but fortunately it is very intermittent and hasn't affected too many people. Also it only affects 32-bit OSs.

The not-so-good news is that we will hold up the beta release until the fix can be incorporated into the release and tested - just a few days. I had hoped that we would release the beta early next week, but it looks like it will be the end of the week (or the following week).

Anyway, thanks especially to Greg, Carlos and Adam for working with us on tracking this bug down.

    Barb,

These are REALLY good news. At least, you guys are closing in on the resolution of this very annoying AppGuard bug.

I do hope when you start testing the new beta build, this fix could already be integrated on it.

By the way, in the past, I had also reported a bug that only happened when playing video files stored on my computer hard disk using WMP on Windows 7 - 32 bit. AppGuard would block/prevent WMP from opening/playing these files and would log the reasons why [ if I recall correctly, it's due to a "user space" problem].
Has this bug been fixed or is it going to be fixed?

    Thanks,

    Carlos

Hi Carlos, the SAM bug WILL be fixed in the next release. As far as the WMP issue, I don't think we've been able to recreate it in the lab, but I will double check.
