I don't see anything wrong with this thread. If it's not about WSA in the other one it's off topic. I'm kind of surprised the other didn't get moved to Prevx forum which seems to handle Webroot questions now.Unless it is for more exposure.

What happened to Microsoft? Seems like it is going downhill bigtime. How long has MSE 4.0 been in beta?

This thread is valid. Its more about Av_test report rather than webroot success as in previous thread.

Disappointing results for eset. what is happening to it

As I said in the first AV-Test thread.

But I can also add that I would of course like to find out why ESET performs less good in the tests made by AV-Test, it's kind of a mystery to me :)

P.S ESET saved my bacon today when a family member checked their email on my PC, they clicked on a "look at this cool video" (no visible link) and after that I saw that ESET had blocked an infected favicon plus something more.
I said next time READ before you click, and think twice!

It has never been explained as far as I know by either party. It's a mystery wrapped up in a conundrum inside of a....

    Yes, and that's too bad.

And as far as I know ESET is the only vendor that has a noticeable drop in AV-Test's testing, compared to the other Organization Tests like AV-C.

Looking at the results i don't think this year's results gonna change.
On the Top it will be Kaspersky, Bitdefender & Norton.
And Webroot & Panda Cloud will be User's Favorite!!

AV-TEST is tampering with ESET's results?

Sounds like fiction and FUD to me. Where did that guy get that info?

ESET has been doing poorly with v5 in other tests I have seen lately.

The test performed by AV-Comparatives, and AV-Test are not the same type of test. The test by one testing organization is used to measure a products ability to perform an entirely different action for the most part. I only saw 2 removal test at AV-Comparatives, and Eset did not exactly shine in them. One was in 2009, and the other was in 2011. They only used 5 malware samples in the test. IMO, it is a waste of time to conduct a test with only 5 malware samples unless you are testing a vendors ability to remove a specific type of malware that are prevalent for that time. If you are only going to use 5 samples then those samples better be all rogues or all rootkits etc.. If not then those test are pretty useless IMO.

    Before our time.

Apparently most of the posts regarding this topic has been deleted, but it appears Marx and ESET didn't end up the best of friends here.

you are wrong. it was 10, and representing a larger set of malware as they were choosen also based on what kind of system changes they did.

Mulder and Scully were right. The truth is indeed out there.;) The posts probably were not deleted as claimed though. For instance I can only go back about 1,000 posts or so when reviewing my own, I think.

I remember a few details about the old conundrum - let's just say that (IMO of course) there were gross errors from Eset as well as AV-test at the time, though in my eyes Eset definitely appeared more guilty.

During those times, especially regarding NOD32, many of AV-test's results were actually backed up by virus.gr which reported similar (but not the same) patterns (However, virus.gr itself was not a bastion of reliability, so to speak :) )

Times have changed now, those old debates should not matter anymore. However, Eset continues to be mediocre in AV-test's tests due to the specific sample set and testing methods. For the ordinary man, as long as the product continues to get tested, the product is still good enough for general use. So don't ditch your Eset licenses just yet.
