Not sure if you assume this based on certain "tests" or on your personal experience. I don't think that ESET protects users less than other AVs in real life, quite the contrary. The statistics of real data show that ESET often protects users against threats missed by other AVs,

I have been using ESETs Smart Security for years and have no complaints.
IMHO it is rock solid and has never let me down.

Nothing have happened it still is :thumb:

    Based on what? :doubt:

Don't go by the latest AV-Test results (only) because ESET does never shine in their testing for some reason, as they do in other tests.

That statement is a bit odd.

What determines purchase? Tests and reviews. If a software as important for a "safe system" as an antivirus/firewall is, gets bad reviews, who is going to buy it? Only the guys bothering to read up some obscure "real reviews by geeks"? I think not.

The AV tests may be bad or biased, but the regular consumer often goes by these when selecting a purchase. How do you think I decided to make my first purchase of Eset 5 years ago!? By reading reviews. Public ones.
Why have I suddenly stopped renewing my license? Because the BE edition is getting old, I have asked repeatedly when it will be updated, not only compared to the private edition, but also compared to other software.

Edit: I have seen you referral to av-comparatives, SweX, but that only confirms what I am saying. I bough Eset in 2007 and in 2011 Kaspersky is the winner. Eset is also beaten by F-Secure and can barely hold off that Panda crap. But, as I was saying, how serious is av-comparative? How many people on the street read those tests? Does any mayor magazine even mention the site? Not that I have seen, at least not in the mags or sites I read, like IDG and similar.

all av are constantly improving, they have to be in order to survive. That said closing this thread in a forum which otherwise deals with support issues.
