Hi everyone, I have used B&R11 to take a backup of a new laptop and I wish to change out the hard drive and replace with a new SSD.

Can I just fit the new SSD and then boot off my B&R11 mem stick and restore the partitions to the new SSD? Will it align properly?

Or should I just connect the SSD using USB and then do a clone instead?

    Thanks

Depends on if you did a "full disc" image or just an image of the OS partition.

    Full disk image, all partitions.

Then you should be able to do a straight restore to the new SSD, and it should align correctly. You might first want to verify that the laptop is able to boot to the USB stick and also access the image wherever it is located. Sort of a dry run.
