    Greetings,

I have read the guidelines for posting a query but I currently have ESS uninstalled so some of the information required is unavailable. I will reinstall tomorrow though and provide the extra info if my query has not been resolved.

I am running Windows 8 Consumer Preview X64 and ESS v5 with program components and definition updates updated to the latest as of yesterday.

I formatted my computer to install the consumer preview and thus reinstalled ESS. From this point, almost every time I downloaded an archive (rar or zip) it would be corrupted. I troubleshooted the hell out of the issue but to no avail. I disabled the deep packet inspection and the firewall, no luck, I disabled protection, no luck there either. Eventually, I just uninstalled ESS and voila, the problem is gone.

When troubleshooting the problem, I came across other people who also had the problem occur due to their AV. A number of people were using AVG and disabling the link scanner solved their problem. What I want to know is if their is a similar mechanism to AVG's link scanner in ESS 5, and where I can find it. I don't have infinite bandwidth to keep downloading large rars so I didn't have the chance to disable each option individually and download a large rar. If you could help narrow down what could be causing the problem for me, I would greatly appreciate it.

    Thanks in advance.

Lol, thx. Any idea though which module could be disabled as an interim solution?

Do you have pre-release updates enabled so that modules with Win8 support would be downloaded?

I do not, but that is wise. Thanks for the advice. I have reinstalled but disabled http checking and everything seems to be smooth for now.
