    Hi All,

I would like to have ESET notify us when it encounters a problem and ideally it will be an email with a FROM address of eset@<clientdomain.com>

I see in ERAC there is a section in Policy Manager under ESET Kernel | Setup | Alerts and notifications where you can set email parameters. This is good but it appears to rely on port 25 to send mail. Now at most of our customers we block outbound port 25 (except for mail servers) so this is not too much use for us. Is there a way to specify port 587 and then we can use the name and password section to authenticate to our servers and let the mail through.

On the other hand is there a way to have ERAC send this to us and not have to rely on the end clients? I see the ability to have ERAC send reports but would it send an email everytime a client reports a virus?

What do other folks do to monitor all the nodes out there? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

    Thanks
    Goran

I'm a newbie so don't have an answer for you. But I'm very interested in this topic and hope that ERAC can send the email notifications rather than have to rely on NOD32 client nodes to send the email. Port 25 is blocked by many ISPs, and in general us IT folks also block port 25 traffic except on our mail servers. So hopefully there is a way to specify a custom port and authentication parameters?

I did find out that the ESET client cannot have any other port specified for sending email. So it is port 25 only.

There is a way to send email from ERAC/ERAS but it will not work for me since all the emails will come from one email address. I had wanted each client's ESET email notifications to come from a different email address so that I can have it go into my ConnectWise and automatically create a ticket with the alert for the right client.

Oh well that is not going to happen.

I am surprised that a security-based company like ESET wouldn't realize that port 25 traffic is commonly restricted/banned by IT depts. So their lack of a port setting in their policies is a serious shortcoming.

BTW, I have forwarded this to our Product Manager as a feature request. I'll let you know if I hear back anything.

    Thanks Foneil!

BTW, is there a better forum for NOD32 Business Edition users/admins than this one? Many of the threads here are from home users. Often when I ask a question in this forum (and I always indicate BUSINESS ED.), Marcos will reply about v5 (which is currently only a home version), which does me no good. I sense this forum is more for home users that business admins. Where can us admins go to get expert assistance from peers and ESET moderators?
