New vendors are AhnLab, Bullguard, GFI (Vipre), Fortinet....what I can see

 

No Norton!!

 

Why would Norton not be on there?

That's so bad I'm not even gonna use the thumbs down because it ain't strong enough.

Part of having and maintaining a good product means you have to do more than claim it - you gotta prove it!

I cant believe Symantec did not participate. :O

 

I dont know why this is so shocking. It has been evident for about a year and a half that Symantec was using Dennis Labs more and more.

Why not Emsisoft included this year too ??

If Emsisoft included then it would bring a very very competitive competition for first 5 places on the board
These five hot seats are highly targeted by the AV vendors

Emsisoft has previously said that it costs too much and that they would rather spend those several thousand Euros on developing their product.

 

Its no use even if they continue to develop their product (to catch 100% malware ) without a good review from a reputed av-testing organization.
Participating will also help to uplift their marketing/sales figures which will help them in long run and spread their product more among the user community.

 

I agree. Av-Comparatvies and AV-Test are two of the major testing organizations. They rarely appear in AV-Test either although I was told that was not determined/controlled by Emsisoft.

Emsisoft should participate in Av-Comparatvies OR ELSE at least with AV-Test on regular intervals...

 

Some vendors may choose to not participate due to how reliant on the cloud their products now are for high detection rates, this isn't necessarily bad.

I'm not saying this is what's happening, for all I know they just don't want to pay the money. But it's a possibility.

Edit: BTW can anyone give me some info about AhnLab V3 Internet Security 8.0?
Its system requirements seems pretty low. That means its not using BD engine..lol

 

Surprising that Symantec has opted out. They were scoring well in whole product dynamic tests. Eager to see results of Fortinet and GFI

 

Not detection rates, but rather FPs. I have noticed a trend that the cloud has a significant effect on what kind of FPs your product is going to produce.

Symantec may be worried it's product is going to produce more FPs than normal in AV-comparatives' test conditions (this is just speculation). Note that PC Tools is still a participant meaning that Norton is still around in some form since PC Tools uses the Norton engine.

Yeah I agree that! I have many Vipre licenses that might come in handy if they do well
