XYplorer Lifetime License Pro at half the price on March 5 and 6 @ BitsDuJour. well worth the price. the developer has been cranking out updates almost on a daily basis for years. my favorite file manager along with Dopus. and it's portable as well.
DOpus or XYplorer are two very good apps. XYplorer is smaller in size and the portable is great. Recommend them both . If you try them you will never go back to win explorer.
Hmm. Not sure what I was thinking when I said this. Midnight Commander hands down..... it the system doesn't have it, I install it. Most of them do though.
Totalcommander. Maybe its because I´ve been using it for many many years and got used to it. Its hard to change
xplorer2 is my choice - but then again it's been with me for many years without my giving any others a chance (that is, besides Windows Explorer)!
using Dopus 10 atm. it's not cheap but well worth the money. XYplorer is another great one and is also very regularly updated. they have a lifetime license deal which really sweetens the deal. Q-Dir is very good for a free file manager. i like the ones above because the interfaces are more modern than some others mentioned above. one would think that after almost 20 years Microsoft would have introduced a tabbed UI or a dual panes mode?!
Currently Dolphin, because it does everything I strictly need; but I've yet to find a file manager that does what I want. Ideally I would want one that: - Can launch applications directly - Can display files as icons or a detailed list view - Allows drag and drop - Offers user-definable shortcuts - Can mount arbitrary external drives or use static mountpoints So basically, a bastard hybrid of ROX and the OSX Finder. *sigh* Once I get around to learning GTK+... (Yeah, right.)
Dolphin is the one i liked the best on Linux. the preview pane on the right is very nice, dual pane, multi tabs etc... nice modern interface.
