Still leaves hidden devices behind in Device Manager, and leaves exceptions in the Windows Firewall when its done.

Which OS? I'm going to uninstall NIS 2012 next week (windows 7x64). I'll run the NRT afterward and check for these leftovers.

All OS I guess, although I am using Windows 7 x64.

You need to set the device manager set to show non-present devices.

Control Panel -> System -> Advanced System Settings -> Environment Variables -> right-click the bottom box and enter the string devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices and give it number 1.

Then start the Device Manager and choose "Show hidden devices". Under Non-Plug and Play Drivers, you will now see the leftovers. They aren't active after uninstalling, and probably won't interfere with anything, but the NRT certainly doesn't remove everything either.

Still I think the removal tool leaves the system more clean than the default uninstaller.

I can't download it with Opera [did it with IE]. Is that because the link is a "ftp://" type?
    Some idea?
