I'm repeating here a post I put up on the avast! forum (igor replied once but no real answer yet) :
I updated through the GUI to avast! 7, all went well and all is working well EXCEPT that the advertisement for avast! on the Summary page is in Russian !
I live in France and my ISP is obviously in France too and all my localization settings are either for France or the UK, you can see the screenshot here :

Where can you view this information of process startup performance? Does it only show processes which delay start-up or can you view the info for every process?

u could have gone in maintainence - support - and could have generated a support package for avast team to check

Beats me... I like Avast because it is very light and it does it's job. And I really hope they will fix it quickly...

I've gone back to V6.....this V7 is to buggy with its file scanner for me....I excluded process lasso....(it started endlessly scanning it again)....now its fixated on scanning the modem:mad: .....In fact I think the V7 beta's were better than this final (for my setup) XP SP3.

Well, BSOD came back last night, but it took almost 15 minutes of youtube and other windows media player use before it happened. It only happens on this machine, XP pro SP3 Dell when I use windows media player.

I'm wondering if removing WMP and using an open source like VLC player will fix the problem. Clearly there's something between AVAST and WMP that's causing it. It began when I installed Avast 6 IS and looks like it's carried over. I also found a lot of complaints about blue screens beginning with Avast 5, when I did a search. Many mentioned media player.

Other than the above, avast 7 is doing well here.

I think all vendors are just trying to build too much into these things, years ago you would of just had separates but today you can't add MBAM to the AV anymore as it conflicts, keep it simple...

Anyone having any issues with the web shield?
My web shield refuses to scan anything on both my Windows 7 x64 machine and my Windows XP x32 laptop...

Well, years ago there was only 1 malware released per day. These days it's like 10.000 new samples daily. So you can't exactly expect it to be simple and still cover such protection capability. It's just not possible. And with complexity, possible issues may appear.

No problem with skipping here, xp pro sp3. It would just blue screen after a few minutes, 10 or 15. It hasn't happened today, but I haven't been listening to any songs.

could the skipping of songs be caused by a virus or malware?

I had a few problems with the betas but nothing so far with 7.0.1407 on 3 x XP SP3 machines.
That said, I'm not rushing to update every PC from 6.0.1367, lest I experience some of the less-than-beneficent behaviour of the type others have described.

I'm sure no expert. Just one thing to ask yourself: Was it happening before Avast?

You say it hasn't happened since removing Avast, so I'd say it was similar to the conflict I'm seeing. Youtube, I think uses Windows Media Player, and there's something going on with Avast and WMP.

Whenever I use media player a lot, around 15 minutes, I get the blue screen. Never happened before Avast 6 and now 7. When I took Avast 6 off, the problem stopped. I put it back on and it started again. I have avast 7 now, and it's started. I like avast 7, so use my laptop for listening to music on youtube or with CD's.

I'm sure you're aware but the web shield doesn't work if the browser is running under sandboxie.

Regarding the "heaviness"/too many files being scanned, I can confirm there's currently a confirmed issue that causes those excessive scans. We will be fixing this through one of the definition updates (probably today).

    Thanks,
    Vlk

Good thing such things can be fixed through VPS so we don't have to wait for the casual program update.

I agree. i think its great.

quick question if someone uses the trial when the trial ends do they get the option to go to the free version or does that have to be installed? or does it convert to free
