for people we are moving from 6 to 7 how will the registration work?

because in a clean install of version 7 you need to signup for an account then login in to ur email and confirm then you can get a key

is that right how it works? i liked the version 6 way,

Registration did not change from 6 to 7.
The account is just an online portal to manage all your avast! installations (Windows, Mac, Mobile). It's not necessary to the registration process.

Congrats to VLK and the Avast team on a great release! For those that have not tried it yet, this is really an outstanding piece of software.

Yes. You need Web Shield in order for FileRep to work. You also need File System Shield for Auto Sandbox to function if you later decide to sandbox the file.

tested FREE version and not impressed !

AvastSvc.exe spikes CPU. System become unresponsive.

It tooks ~30 sec to open OFFICE 2007.

does anyone have same issue ?

It may take a bit longer during the first boot where the caches are getting populated. When you go to the Real-time Shields -> Protection status window, do you see any shields "glaring" (= scanning something)?

It's the File System Shield, right? It doesn't scan the whole drive, just files that are being "touched"... in most cases, it's very fast. A few minutes at most.

    Thanks

    Hey vlk,
When a process is auto-sandboxed, do you need to have the Behaviour Shield installed for behavioural analysis to be performed within the sandbox?
Likewise, do you need the Web Shield for FileRep to be used during the auto-sandbox analysis.

On an unrelated note, my Web Shield isn't scanning anything at all... :doubt:

    Thanks,
    Fuzzy

Something is seriously wrong there. Over 100k scanned files just by File System Shield in one session is a bit extreme. Something else seems to be accessing the files and avast! is then scanning them sequentially. What else are you using with avast! ? And i don't mean just security apps, also all the others which might be doing some sort of indexing or backup etc.

    yep its CRAZY
It looks Avast scanning and re-scanning File System without end. Several reboot did not solve the issue.

    I have :
    Diskeeper Pro
    TuneUp 2012
    Macrium Free

Experienced the first BSOD while it checked IDM.exe (internet download manager) in its AutoSandbox. Have disabled it for the time being.

This is a good opportunity to suggest a new option: "Do not scan files accessed by process X".
I don't remember, but avast doesn't have that feature. It would help a lot in troubleshooting abu shofwan's issue.

There were severe performance problems with Diskeeper and PerfectDisk before. My bet is on this one or on the Macrium Free thingie.
