Has anyone here tried installing SD on the Windows 8 Developer Preview (and if so, does it work)? o_O

Is there a way to erase the shadowed space (where SD stores/writes the shadowed volume) while exiting shadow defender or even after rebooting in normal mode? Something like the invocation of delete command in Sandboxie on shutdown or even manually erasing the Sandbox in X:\Sandbox.

    Thanks

I have an old copy of Shadow Defender and wanted to double check the md5 on mine. Could someone please confirm if this is a safe version?

    I have 35EDF53C0B4D3B8960047CFBFCBAE7E3 on mine

I have not tried the x64 version but I've had it for a long time, originally downloaded from Shadow Defender site.

I have not yet. I am considering it, but my current setup is running so smooth, I may wait for a while before I install it. I ended up installing SD today. Its running like a champ on Win 7 x64.

Gotcha... I've been very satisfied with SD on 32-bit WinXP but I'm about to buy a new laptop with 64-bit Win7 and I'd sure like to know if SD x64 works well on that platform.

Hey eskro, much thanks for that feedback - I have such confidence in Shadow Defender I wasn't really looking forward to any other (64-bit) LV program!

i already bought the new version but i want to use the Tony 325 version everyone is talking about but i can't find a reputable link for it. could you PM me the 64 bit exe you're using? I'm unable to send PMs for whatever reason (maybe i need to accumulate more posts or something i'm unaware of).

or if anyone could help out i would appreciate it. thanks.

OK - I am in an ugly situation it seems.

I downloaded the new version against everyone's wishes so that i could buy a code to use on the earlier versions. I did. Now, while I was using the trial version, I went into shadow mode (C: only) to see if it was working properly. it was fine. but after i registered the code i was told to type in a password... I NEVER chose one. Now it won't let me exit shadow mode.

    What do I do?!?!

and when i double click the desktop tip it tells me i have a trial version and it'll end in 30 days. It's like some sort of endless loop. :(

    EDIT:

OK, GREAT NEWS! I went into safe mode and was able to delete Shadow Defender 331 from my system. No trace of it.

Now all I need is the legit version. Heh. So if someone could send me it I'd appreciate it. I got my new code from Avangate. Will it work with the older version as well? :S

    i have a 64 bit win 7 BTW. phew. i dodged a bullet, huh? :D

The problem with those links is that it forces me to download the new version of SD that everyone has said NOT to download.

I need the 325 version that is from before. The version that has "shadowdefender.com as the publisher and not Igor blahblahblah."

There were links that people posted earlier in this thread but they don't work anymore. I need an updated link, please. :(

Guys, who knows: the SD isn't developed for a year. Is it safe to use it?

Totally safe (based on my experience). While the website (i.e., those that run it) is certainly a mystery, I have found the latest x.331 version (on the site) to work as well as the popular x.225 version (I can't tell the difference)!

There's a huge difference I've noticed. For one, it wouldn't let me register. kept telling me i was in trial and wouldn't let me exit shadow mode when i was testing it. That's a pretty bad sign, no? Anyways, I have received the Tony version and had no problems registering it. The only negative is that it's not reading one of my external hard drives but I've been having trouble with it before I registered, so I don't know... I had to use DOS to reset it. I can read the files again but SD is still not reading it, even after restarting a couple of times.

Although I have not experienced that, it is interesting - did you purchase your license key from Tony or from the new SD website provider?

It was a license key from Avantgate. New SD.

Thankfully someone kind enough to send me an e-mail with the old SD exe also included their key so I wasn't robbed out of $35.

Does a current license (if purchased off the current vendor's website) work with the earlier versions?

Sorry, the answer to this didn't seem clear to me.

    Thanks in advance.

It did for me - at least with .325 (I didn't try any older versions).
