    Ok, update from Lavasoft.

It appears that Ad-Aware 10 is delayed and hasn't been officially launched. We've been asked to remove the download link(s) and news story. Great, considering it's now all over the internet.

What a mess and bad PR on their part.

And Vipre updates more than once a day. Lavasoft free contains Vipre engine.

No, they releases updates at least once a day. They write in one of their blogs what has been added/updated: http://www.lavasoft.com/mylavasoft/securitycenter/blog

    I'm a beta tester of Ad-Aware 10.

Ad-Aware 10 includes file protection just as version 9 does.

I know about Languy's "love" for Comodo and I never pick my security software based on Youtube's videos, but for fun...
PS.But Ad-Aware still sucks, there are far,far more better free choices out there.

Can you explain why you think Ad-Aware sucks?

When information is correct it uses Vipre and its own adware engine. It also provides most of the guards (not only process guard anymore). So when they do something about the slooowwwww initial loading, it should be okay

Because it's heavy on my system (2.00GHz CPU,4 Gb RAM,Win 7 Ultimate x32),it's sluggish, slows down the opening files and the browsing. The updates fail with errors, and i've done some un-professional detection tests for myself.Conclusion-i would and in fact i will never trust this software to protect my system.

Adaware 10 beta has quite a few issues so you are bound to come across realtime and update errors. I believe this is why they recalled the final release.

Or is that not the version you are referring to?

Though v10 beta is much lighter...! As we have been discussing, the free version will be a real major contender in the free AV market.

Besides, this thread is about v10 not 9.6. ;)

The webpage is not misleading, the sandbox emulator is included in the basic protection provided by Ad-Aware Free Antivirus+, and everything else listed on the webpage. It is other features that are included in the "Advanced protection", provided by Ad-Aware Pro Security, as you see in the picture.

External storage scan is off - does it mean that Ad-Aware Free is unable to scan an USB drive?

    How about rootkit protection?

External storage scan is that a USB drive is scanned automatically upon insertion, so far I have seen. I'm a beta tester of the Pro version
