Did Avast ever fire up the cloud protection? I think they said it would be early this week.

 I hope not, they should take more time to polish things up just like in the old avast! days.

FileRep is scheduled to be released sometime this week. This is the most essential upgrade to the cloud feature along with Streaming Updates. I'm hoping for a late release today but we'll see.

This is caused by window restrictions in the IE browser. Avast cannot fix that, but we can (sorta of..). :)

Yes, that is a restriction of IE browser. As you can see, in all other browsers like Firefox or Chrome, the icon is placed with all the others like it should be in IE as well.

    Beta 2 (beta2 - build 7.0.1399

    * ARA has problems with connection sometimes when server is on win7/Vista 32b
    * Installers have issues when updating/upgrading
    * Registration in avast! Free doesn't work due to problems with server side (should be fixed tomorrow)
    * The help hasn't been updated yet, it's still from v6
    * Some translations haven't been updated yet, so you'll see new items in English

FileRep is supposedly already available in this (beta2) version.

I've updated and I can't see any sign of it, perhaps I'm just over looking it. Unless file rep only anlyzes within the sandbox? Because I have just seen an exe bewing anlyzed in that way.

FileRep is still not "turned on" (in the sense that the cloud still isn't returning the data). It's supposed to be turned on before the end of this week (and doing so will not require any product update - the backend will just start to work).

BTW you won't quite see any visible changes in the UI or anywhere - just the protection level should be increased.

    Thanks
    Vlk

One issue I had with Avast beta, was I couldn't see the files I save to my desktop unless I open up Windows Explorer and look for them there. Weird.

What happens if you press F5 button? It happened many times that i've downloaded a file with Firefox and nothing appeared on desktop until i refreshed it. Long before i've even heard of avast! 7 beta, let alone use it.

This is with both Chrome & FF. And as soon as I uninstalled Avast 7, the problem went away.

I also found the program doubled my ping scores.

It would be nice to have the option of switching between an advanced UI (the current UI) and a more simple UI.
With all the shields, features and statistics in the current UI it may be a bit overwhelming for the novice user.

Terrible MS paint skills aside, something like this maybe...
