I am currently using the Trend Micro online backup program. It was a big mistake to ever choose TM but that's another story. My subscription ends in a few days and I need to either gut it out one more year with TM or find an alternative. Hopefully the latter.

Anyway, here are my needs and if someone has a suggestion please post-
    1. Paid or free is not an issue.
    2. I want a backup program that is most likely going to be around this time next year and one that has a good track record, plus no crazy price hikes at the last minute.
    3. I need access from my Android phone. So hopefully the backup program has an app either in the Android Market or the Amazon Market where I can download the needed app.

I need somewhere in the neighborhood of less than 20 GB of space.

    thanks

For Android access, I think you have Dropbox and SugarSync.
I use Mozy and avast! Backup for Windows online backup ;)

google storage, no app needed (browser) although if you want an app then there are plenty available.

of all data storage companies, google will be in business the longest so i recommend them for peace of mind

    £2 for 20GB storage..

    Well...

I've started to use Mozy and receive a lot of free space due to referrals.
I use it for documents that change very frequently.
    It is free.

I use avast! Backup for very big files that change very rare.

please note that avast backup is the same as mozy (avast backup is just a skin for mozy) and if that data is important then you might want to back it up with another company apart from mozy just in case they close doors as you never know whats going to happen in the business world

the link is malicious ............trafficlight blocks it and virus total says 'The submitted URL does not match a valid URL pattern, please check your syntax and request a new scan.'

I have used that link on many occasions without problems.
I have had the program for years, also withot problems.
I'm not an expert in the computer field, but your program
    may be over sensitive.

You need insert "www.halfdata.com" instead "https://www.halfdata.com/" in VirusTotal 'Enter URL' box. Detection ratio: 1/19

I have been using CrashPlan for over a year and it has been very reliable and has no performance impact on my laptop.

Thanks for all the tips. I hate to renew with trend micro but who knows what I will end up doing. Right now they are trying to get me to pay the everyday rack rate without a discount for renewal. Heck even their site has it discounted.

So many companies work so hard to get new customers that they forget about their loyal customers and don't offer them equivalent discounts. I've always thought it was wrong for companies to forget to "dance with those who brung 'em." (Pardon the bad grammar, but that's the saying! And it's so true.)
