Running trials on KIS2012 on one netbook and KAV 2012 on another and there runnig fine with very slight impact on system performance, both netbooks have dual core atoms so that mighr help some. The safe run is a nice touch with KIS, but slow to load, but other wise pretty impressive programs for kaspersky for 2012.

Nod 5 av flaked out on me. There was some update problem (a windows message said the problem has existed since Jan. 9). Apparently this has been resolved after a reboot and another update attempt, then another reboot. Another issue and I'm probably headed to KIS. BTW- is anyone running KIS and MBAM Pro together?

Time for a change :D my all freeware setup

On Windows 7 32 bits (UAC on default)

    Firewall
    - WIndows FireWall notifier ** using Windows7 own firewall also as outbound **

    System wide HIPS/anti keylogger
    - Spyshelter free ** set to auto allow signed programs **

Internet facing software (Mail, WMP, Chrome, Foxit PDFFreader)
    - EMET 2.1 (reduces exploit vulnability by hardening memory protection)
    - Kristal Safe Way (reduces drive by infections by setting a deny execute to downloaded programs)

    Extra Browsing security
    - Using Chrome's own PDF Flash plug-in (plus low rights sandbox)
    - Norton DNS server
    - Chrome safe browsing/phising protection enabled

    Extra Privacy precautions
    - Chrome settings: block 3rd party cookies, only allow session cookies
    - Ghostery chrome extension

    On demand
    - Mcfee GetSusp whitelist (cloud) check
    - HitmanPro multi AV (cloud) check
    - A2 MalAware (cloud) quick scan
    - Bitdefender (cloud) quick scan

Bottem line: simple and solid setup for someone with low risk profile
    - only install from time to time another security program (a non-typical Wilders behaviour, maybe once every three to six months)
    - do not install from USB, do not use cracks, no hardcore internet XXX browser

If you install MBAM it should be done after KIS because KIS finds a Compatiblity issue and will remove MBAM.If they will conflict together afterward I cant say.

Once both installed they run fine together, especially after following these instructions.

Thanks for the info. With the possibility of conflict maybe I will just run MBAM on demand, although I would hate doing that.

I'm running both (after making the aforementioned exclusions) and can assure you there's no conflict. If I remember correctly, one of the MBAM employees mentioned using Kaspersky himself on their forums.

Do I need to uninstall MBAM first and then re-install after Kaspersky?

I had no problems when installing KAV the other day, but it couldn't hurt I guess.

I was going to try Kaspersky a few days ago, but that ended when it deleted MBAM, one of my favorite programs. The install said it was going to delete conflicting software, but didn't say which one, took me a while afterwards to see that it was MBAM. Doing a little reading online I found that's been a long-running problem, seems like Kaspersky would have done something about it by now.

Thanks to the timely comments here I'm going to give it another try tonight, using the instructions that The Seeker linked to.

Interestingly, I tried Kaspersky AV today also.
Unfortunately it blue-screened on me during install... which in retrospect is okay because I wouldn't have appreciated it removing MBAM.
I checked KAV's non-compatible software list and if MBAM was on there, I missed it.
I'd already removed VIPRE, so I grabbed a copy of avast free just to hang an AV on my machine.
Much to my surprise, avast installed a reputation plugin (WebRep) which I knew nothing about, not having followed avast for a long time. I uninstalled it because I already have a couple such apps running.
Anyway, I don't know how long I'll keep avast on here, but it is definitely a nice, easily configurable AV... albeit with not very great detection.
I'll probably have another go at KAV in the not-to-distant future, after I swap out my HD, which is a small project I've been putting off.

jmonge - Have you tried VoodooShield yet? I am liking it a lot. Very simple, easy to use. You can download the beta free before January 31 -http://voodooshield.com/ and watch video -http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IPpp1v05GTo
