    Hello jmonge!

Never talked to you, but always see your msgs and reviews, really nice!!

Have you added MBAM Pro in Real Time? It is working fine?

I was thinking about adding mbam pro or spyshelter... but I don´t know if that´s going to be a bit overkill to my setup... what do you think? I own licenses of both...

Anyway, advices would be really appreciated!

    Thanks!

oh yes it will be a good idea to have it in real time and yes i have the pro version as it has a huge database and if it doesnt slow my system down it will
complement my antivirus.i tested it before and it(heuristics engine)catches alot of new malware, only the pro version i think it has the heuristic engine:thumb:

I finally settled into this setup after one month of searching for very high satisfaction.
My previous setup for several years was just
    Avira Free
    Comodo (FW & Defence+)
    WinPatrol
My own simple script to backup limited number of files.
and I have never been infected.
But I wanted something new, so I searched a lot (especially in this forum) and found great(in my opinion) combination.

    [Router]
NEC - Aterm WR7600H (Deny inbound for commonly used ports)
    WPA-PSK(not 2), AES encryption with 32characters.

    [OS]
    Windows-Vista Home Basic 32bit (OEM)
    UAC enabled.

    [Realtime Protection]
    VIPRE (AV only)
PrivateFirewall (with HIPS enabled. As for FW, just set at "high")
AppGuard (Lockdown. More convenient than "High")
WinPatrol Plus (The last line of the defense. Also I want it's icon resides in the task bar!)
    EMET (DEP = Opt-Out, SEHOP = Always-On, ASLR = Opt-In)

    [On Demand]
    Malwarebytes Free

    [Browser]
    Firefox
+AdBlock (Just about 30 lines ruleset)
    +Better Privacy
    +LastPass
    +BitDefender TrafficLight
    +WOT
and other addons not related to security.

    [Backup]
Genie TimeLine Pro (for file backup)
AVG LiveKive 25GB (in case for disaster. Also highly unlikely at here)
Paragon Backup & Recovery Free (for periodic imaging)

I also have Debian installed on this machine with zero security software. (No iptables too)

I want to say "thank you" to all members as you have compiled great discussions.

    Laptop with Windows 7 Ultimate

    Physical :
    2 Hard drives , OS/Games Drive , Backup Drive.
ATA Hard drive password on OS/Games Drive

    Always On:
OS & Microsoft Tools : Win FW , Win Defender , EMET
Configuration changes: OpenDNS , Downloads Folder , "Run" Folder

    Occasionally Use:
MS Applocker , Sandboxie , Virustotal, Secunia PSI

    Backup/Recovery.
Acronis 2011 - Backups from OS/Games Drive to Backup Drive.
    Acronis 2011 - 1 Image of 0S/Games on external Drive ( Not tested )

    Paid
Windows Ultimate , Acronis 2010 , Sandboxie , and an IronKey for storage / internet cafes.

    Settings
Admin/User : Run as Admin with UAC (High)
EMET : Applications set - Browers & Flash & Steam
Downloads folder : No execution allowed.
"Run" folder : Full execution allowed , has Path Access in Applocker
Applocker : Have 2 simple script files on desktop to switch Applocker On and Off.
Sandboxie : only used to block untrusted USB's.
VirusTotal : have "send to" VirusTotal on right-click menu.
    MS Office : is uninstalled.
    Acronis 2011 :
    1) Backup User Profile and Games Installations to Backup Drive
    2) Backup Settings ; Password , Differential , Daily / At Logon ( varies) , Max Backup size set

The "Run" Folder lets me run any new program, at any time. For me this gives a good balance between convenience and security.
