Exactly. One has to think about the fact that they supported it to begin with, ignored the initial round of complaints, and could not have possibly not known what was in that bill. As I said also, lack of public support does not mean no support at all.

I have a bridge to sell to anyone who believes them.

 

Wondering if they have done anything to remove their testimony in support of SOPA from the Congressional Record. For their change of position to be meaningful, they would have to file a statement with the committee and its individual members explaining why they no longer support the bill, aside from being threatened with a huge loss of of its customer base.

Are they just withdrawing their support or are they now opposing the bill? There is a difference.

That would not surprise me in the least. As it stands, there's no real proof, but going by how GoDaddy has always been as a service, I wouldn't fall over from shock if this was true.

I don't see them going to that extreme to protest it. On the one hand, you'd upset viewers enough that they'd probably give their reps an earful. On the other, you'd upset viewers enough that they'd even more likely give you an earful. The same companies that aren't brave enough to stick to their guns when chided over doing the wrong thing, are the same ones not brave enough to face the heat when, finally, they're doing the right thing.

I fully support a blackout, because this bill, mark my words, is going to leave the internet a shadow of its former self. It's that bad. But, I'm not your general user in that I won't throw a hissy fit if I don't get my daily fix of certain things because of a protest blackout.

 

Gaming Companies Quietly End Official Support for SOPA

With each revision, the list of SOPA supporters seems to be shrinking. In the most recent silent update, gaming companies seem to be the ones pulling back. Sony, EA, and Nintendo are no longer listed as supporters of the bill, but were on the list in November. None of the companies has acknowledged the change in position.

They all have user forums, right? Users might post content infringing competitors' rights. Maybe those users are working for said competitors.

 

I'll be pulling my domain from Godaddy and withdrawing support for any other company, lobbyist, politician, product or service that has shown a desire to support SOPA.

No real shock with those numbers, it's probably higher actually.

 

Since they withdrew support of SOPA right away I consider any figures as mute.
