I may have stumbled upon something here:

My newly installed Win 7 SP1 64bit system shows *exactly* the same symptoms as described earlier here by vtol:
    https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?&t=271602

I have found, that *disabling* the system-wide "Data Execution Prevention" feature of Windows and thus resetting it to its default setting
"Datenausführungsverhinderung nur für erforderliche Windows-Programme und -Dienste einschalten" makes both issues go away immediately.

Somehow I think system-wide DEP to be a clever idea and data execution by any program to be somewhat of a "no-go".
Maybe someone from ESET could look into this, thank you.

I am running a Win 7 SP1 64-bit system too, with system wide DEP enabled and have not experienced any such crashes.

From your version of ekrn.exe I assume you are using Nod v4?

    I have ekrn.exe v5.0.94.0 (Nod v5).

You are right, Phil - this is the most up to date business edition (4.2.71.2); currently there is no v5 for businesses.

The new version 4.2.76.1 of the business edition cures both of these issues :)

    Thank you, ESET!
