I have tested Avast FileShield v/s WebShield v/s NetworkShield quite a few times.

I have found that the FileShield & WebShield has exactly the same protection i.e atleast in my test whatever FS detected was detected by WS & viceversa & whatever FS missed was missed by WS & viceversa.

NetworkShield provides different protection as it is URL based so it provides little extra protection.

    Thanx

I totally agree bro. They are fantastic & super fast in fixing bugs & fine tuning the product.

Recently there have been loads of new AV's emerging but mostly all have been half baked & worthless.

Among all the lots of new AV's I can say UnThreat Free is really a good one & easy at par with 3 A's, can say even better.

    Thanx

I don't think the product is mature enough yet.

According to UnThreat, currently on few systems this option can make slight system slowdown thats why its not currently enabled by default. But they have mentioned that it doesn't affects the security & the malware will be detected if tried to run.

So if you dont face slow down you can check the option.

    Thanx

In vipre many people experienced high cpu usage with it enabled not necessarily slowdowns.

This product uses the VIPRE engine from GFI. The firewall driver, probably for protection against network attacks, is also from the same company.
