I know Symantic is pulling billions.

What about Comodo? Emsisoft? DrWeb? Malwarebyes? etc

pretty sure McAfee would be making billions too. BitDefender and F-Secure in the top 5 (but thats a guess).

Comodo, Fortinet and some others are bigger players in other sectors so if you include money from those sectors than Comodo would be making more than Dr.Web, Emsisoft, Malwarebytes. Plus Fortinet will be making more than all previous 4 i mentioned (fortinet has 1500+ employees and comodo has 600+ employees)

I have no idea but they don't make anything from me.

Have you looked at SEC.gov? That should provide you with a good start. Comodo likely rakes in a good chunk due to their other business. The rest of them I very seriously doubt are pulling in hundreds of millions, never mind a billion+

Yeah, I don't doubt that they can make a lot of wonga, but I doubt with most of them it's in the billions.

There is no telling how much av companies make. I suspect they have several revenue sources beyond the amount paid specifically for their products.

I saw some website rate MBAM at 300k revenue per year but idk how reliable it was.

Not sure how to use sec.gov for this. I am awful at figuring websites out haha

I suspect Comodo is pulling in quite a lot of money with their huge CA module. I'm more curious as to how much CIS pulls in but I guess they're intertwined.

MBAM also interests me - I'd really like to know how many employees they have and what kind of money they pull in.

They make so much greenback they can easily afford to pay their shills to write doomsday articles on the latest exploits, and how it’s incumbent upon all to run the latest updated antivirus to keep protected :D

They only have information on companies that are required to register their security offerings. Typically, privately-held companies (that are funded through private placements of securities and/or funded directly by the principals) are exempt from filing disclosure documents.

My notebook had BullGuard pre-installed & my last two desktops were custom built.

I once got Norton & McAfee free with my ISP. I now have MSE free from Microsoft. ;)

While I can't comment on our revenue, I can tell you that we are a 50 person operation at this point. We need this many people to support our tens of millions of freeware users along with the smaller percentage of paying customers.

We're also building a ton of new tools, some completely free, some using the freemium model like Malwarebytes Anti-Malware -- this obviously requires quite a few developers, product managers, and testers. We've been lucky to have a great year and we owe it to our fantastic community.

Thank you Dermot! Lots of really good info there.

    @RD,

It's a shame you can't share more but I understand! No biggie. I appreciate the information you can provide.

Are all those statistics based on dollar or they are based on different currencies, because i can't believe "ca" is making more than lots more than other mainstream AV's

Probably not, but they sold that segment of their business:
........and that segment of their business couldn't have accounted for some huge percentage of their total revenue when you take the following into consideration:

With only about 20 people on the payroll Emsisoft is probably one of the smaller full AV vendors around. ;)
