Right now we're translating avast Mobile to other languages (I think ~10).
Does anybody know how Android works in this case, I mean, will it require uninstall/install or it can be "replaced" on the fly and the language updated?

On the fly. The app language is taken from the system settings.

Perhaps I need better glasses. I see no scan log anywhere. And, indeed, during the on-demand scan I did, on the screen was a line about time and counts, tiny letters on the left side, but when the scan finished, it all vanished, so it's not very informative at this point since I couldn't read it. No issues otherwise that I can see.

I believe Avast will at some point add a log.

Question - what is that "notification icon" people keep talking about? Much is written about it on the avast forum.

It's the orange icon that (by default) is displayed along the top edge of the screen, along with BT, GPS, Battery, etc. I like seeing it and knowing the AV is running. I've read that Android may kill/restart apps that don't show an icon which is another reason to keep it enabled.

Oh, that tiny thing. Lots of fuss about it, I thought it might be something big.
Would you know what a "Notification manager is"? I don't have any such item in the avast menu, yet I see complaints about that one as well.

I suppose that the android system kills whatever it wants to when it needs space. Hmmm. Now I see why avast says not to disable the icon. Interesting.

There is a great expectation that the final version comes before Christmas (i.e., it gets out of beta). The application is fully translated into Portuguese now (next release).

Great news! Will the beta version update automatically through the market?

Awesome. Now that its final, looks like its time to give it a go again.

For those using it, any decrease in battery life?

    Cheers!

I've been using Beta from the beginning on unsupported (!) android 3.2 rooted Toshiba Thrive and I don't see any impact on the battery. Perhaps only a slightly slower startup by maybe 5-10sec.
